How many change their own oil/filter?
I do. I enjoy doing stuff like this. I've been changing the oil and filter in my own cars for nearly 50 years. And I enjoy looking everything over underneath the car.

Been doing oil and filter changes on most of my vehicles for 50 years as well. Getting harder and harder due to age and medical issues. The wet sump C7 1LT is a very easy job. Not so with the Jeep GC. The opening they allow for removal of the drain plug and filter is way too small. Really did a job on myself during the last change. I am either going to have to remove the splash pan next time (a PITA) or take it to the dealer to do. I let the BMW dealer take care of my wife's car. I just do not have the horse power to do them all any more. I also rotate the tires on the Jeep. Don't have to do that on the C7 or BMW.

Do it my self, know it is done right. Got one free oil change on the way back from Bowling Green.

I do all the basic maintenance work on my vehicles if possible, oil changes, tire rotation (side to side on the C7) , fluid changes, filters etc.
So far none of my late model vehicles ( '15-'16-'17) have ever been back to the dealers since purchase. But I will admit it's getting harder as I get older.

Never gave it a thought much more enjoyable to have a coffee and donut while letting my trusting dealer do the job. Plus they sponsor our Corvette Club and we get one free oil change per year.

I have always done my own since I acquired my Graddaddy's 1970 Dodge D100 in 1985 and my Dad swore Quaker State 10W-30 was the only true oil to ever be used in a vehicle. I just recently executed my first oil change on the C7 (while pouring $10 quart bottles of M1 ESP DEXOS2 0W-40) and while my war torn body struggles to get under the car these days, I still enjoy doing it and know it was done correctly. I can have a beverage afterwards for some self satisfaction and accomplishment. Of course, I moan and groan the next day getting in and out of my lounger. LOL!

Glad many enjoy that type of work. Me - no thanks. I think it is important we understand how our corvettes work (this forum is great for this) so we can help make sure the job is done right. For example, know how to check the oil on dry sump to make sure it was done correctly, etc.

I used my freebies at the dealer then have done it myself ever since. I'm doing the same with my new Jeep. I've always done my pevious cars and my wife's car myself though. Years ago I made the horrible mistake of letting Walmart change the oil on one of her old cars back when we were still just dating because we were short on time...what a disaster, never again!

My local Chevy dealer (Pinegar) charges me "customer" rates & l get the job done for $45 + tax, they also check out (professionally) what's going on underneath..........................l grew out of lying on my back on the cold concrete many years ago when l got a job that paid me good money!

I am 70 and fortunately enjoy robust health. I have always done my own oil changes for the fact I am a cheap bastard and even though I can afford things like this it still pisses me off to pay 3x for it. Plus I get to chose the best products like the correct filter and do not have to settle for an xyz brand or a Fram.

I’ve always changed my own oil on all of my vehicles. But I have 2 free remaining oil changes for my Z and the dealer I bought from has a pretty good Vette tech there. So I will probably let them do the next 2. Then I’ll go back to changing it myself.

I used my final complementary GM oil change last week. My next oil change will be done by me.

I stopped doing oil changes on all my cars once I compared the price of having it done by a shop vs doing it myself. To save $10 or $20 is not worth it.
