2019 Grand Sport paint issue
I have a 2019 black C7 Grand Sport I bought 2 weeks ago. I picked it up in the rain and when a few days later when I waxed it I noticed dark gray spots on the hood, front bumper and passenger mirror. I took it to the dealer and the body shop looked at it and says its under the clear coat and they would have to paint the complete front end. Has anyone have this issue? I really don't want a repainted car. Has anyone fought for a new car? I looked on line and there is one within 100 miles that is the same exact car with all the same options, same color and sticker price. GM is coming to look at it on the July 10th. Is fighting for another car a option and realistic or is it just a dream to get what I paid for? The selling dealer will not help at all, they are just offering paint with no other option except keep the spots. I brought it to another Chevy dealer and they are willing to help with the fight. The car has been sitting there with 500 miles on it for the last 10 days.

Forget about a new car. GM offers to repaint the front end. Up to you if you want it done. I have been through this twice on two C7 Z06's.

It's unlikely GM will give you a new car but it's not impossible. I wouldn't want the whole front end repainted on a brand new car, that's for sure. Legally, you'd have to fight them in court and it probably wouldn't be worth the time, money and aggravation for you, and I'm not sure legally that you would have a good chance of winning in court.
Legally, you'd probably have to let them try to repaint it, and then if it wasn't done properly you might have a lemon law case - but with paint, your case would be pretty weak unless they botched the job.
You're pretty much stuck with it unless you want to trade it in and take a bad loss, sorry dude.

Good luck with the repaint. Sorry, but you're in a tough position with a brand new car.

Damn what a buz kill. Not as bad as the guy who's vette burned to the ground and had to scrape off the pavement.

Well I talked to the dealer today and they said upon further inspection they are finding the same paint issue on the rear deck lid. They tried in one spot to rub it out and agree now that the spots are definitely under the clear coat. I have bought 13 new GM vehicles in the last 19 years. Three of them have been Corvettes and the others Cadillac and diesel trucks. Three in the last year two 2018 Camaro Hot Wheels and the Corvette. I am going to fight this as hard as I can.

Before the GM rep looks at it you might want to take it to a reputable high end detailer and see if they have a suggestion or cure other than repaint. I had a few tiny light grey spots in my front bumper fascia and RSF of rear hatch. I had factory ordered the car in February. A 2019 Shadow Gray GS. Did not notice at delivery but my Xpel detailer did same day I took delivery. He fixed front bumper before Xpel. I did the hatch myself. Griots Garage random orbital buffer. I used Griots machine polish #2. It took about 3 passes/sessions to fully correct. Ironically the dealer had done a CilaJet sealant prior to delivery.
I love my Corvette for what it is. But having spent 10 years as a supplier quality assurance manager to GM in a past life, I drive Acura’s as my workhorse 30k + annual mile vehicles for good reason.

The Corvette was looked at by GM today. They took pictures and videos of the damage. I sent the dealers service manager an email yesterday and he gave them a copy. In the email I explained my history with GM and my position on the way I would like to see the paint issue resolved. I stated that repainting 2/3 of the car was not a acceptable option to me. They tried to get a few of the spots out and could not. The last count I heard was over 200 spots were on the car. The dealer thinks there is a chance for a replacement. We will see. The info has been sent to the big guys now and I was told they would get back to me on their decision within 5 working days. Now its wait time as the car still sits at the dealer until a agreement is made.

I was informed by the dealer that GM has agreed to take the car back as a return. They have sent the paperwork to Michigan and will inform them when to release a replacement.

WOW, good for you Procco. After reading this, it hit me that I had a few little yellowish/grey spots around the nose of my brand new Torch Red when I washed it the first time. They can only be seen in bright sunlight. I may take a closer look. I have not paid much attention because I detail it in the shade in the garage where they don't appear. They were so small and minor I would pass on the repaint and even if I was successful in getting GM to replace it, not sure that factory could do it at this point.....convertible M7 in TR.

Great news!!! Hope the next one is perfect. Make sure you look it over really good before you take it. Also have a second pair of eyes with you as well. Good Luck

Not the OP's problem but I bet all they do is repaint and resell it

They paint color batches together; so, another of the same color may have some of the same issues. Hope not!
