Default Doug DeMuro's newest video is SO WRONG. Someone let him review a C7 manual

He says the C5 Z06 is probably one of the best performance bargains out there with very nice pristine models at the 30k range. You can barely even find them and this is an almost 20 year old GM vehicle. Reliability with C5's has not been so great.

However... for around 37-38k you can pick up a pretty decent condition C7 manual. Yes the C8 will cause the used c7 market to drop even more so figure 35k in a few months. And you actually get a decent interior with the C7. WHAT A BARGAIN!!!

So because he states that the C5 Z06 is a fantastic value at $20-$25k, he is "wrong" because you can get a base 2014-2015 Stingray for slightly under $40k?

C5 Z06 WILL be a future classic! C7 Stingray in 20 years will be an old, forgettable Corvette.

I WISH our '02 Z was worth $20K - $25K

Seems like the real low mile '02-'04 Z06 are $25-$30k, no?

Referring to cars with50,000 miles and under.

Lovely!

It is a car you put on and "wear" as opposed to just getting in and driving.

It is lovely.

But I tried to drive a relatively low miles one after my C7Z and it was like trying to wear leather pants or a jeans jacket again. I got a lot of “woo hoos” and 20-somethings gunning their engines though!

Doug DeMuro makes opinion videos to generate clicks. His videos are sometimes entertaining, but at the end of the day, he's a guy who knows only marginally more about cars than the average person. He is one of the few people on earth who actually reads the owner's manual, so I will give him kudos for that. Most of the "quirks and features" are things that are normal vehicle operations.

I can’t disagree with him about the C5 Z being a performance bargain. 405 hp for around $20K is not a bad deal. And finding a nice, low mileage example is not all that difficult. Sure it is not a C6 or C7 Z, but it still performs well.

Who gets upset enough about a video on YouTube from a guy you don't know to make a whiny post about it? Really odd.

C5s can now be had for less than $10k with under 100k miles (non Z cars). That's a hell of a lot of car for not a lot of money. 350HP, 30+mpg highway, and super easy (not necessarily cheap) to make it go scary fast in both a straight line and in the twisties.

Video was great and 100% correct. The C5z is a crazy performance bargain, and though he did not mention it, the aftermarket is insanely deep.
As a C5z fan I was thinking - wow, he'd really enjoy it if that car had Corbeaus, sound insulation kit, and a set of DRM Bilsteins.

C5 is the easiest platform to work on.. I would also not hesitate to buy one with over 100k miles. The C5 and C5Z will continue to drop in value. Hell my rare 2000 FRC is worth a dollar three eighty.. Is the C7 a better platform ? Absolutely ! I love my C7
