Just how good is the Grand Sport? Asking because...
I have a 2013 GS that I bought new. I have no qualms about it, it does everything I need it to do. There are great sales on the GS now and I am starting to get the itch for a new car. But if the C8 is going to make the C7 obsolete for the same money (lol) I would just keep my C6 GS and be a little more obsolete. In other words I don't want to buy a new car that is already old news, I would just keep my car and save the money.

Take a look at C6 Grand Sports currently for sale. Top of the leader boards for c6's, even some used stingray c7's at the same price levels. The public likes the c6 GS. Yours will go the distance with a free revving AFM-free motor, port injection which keeps the valves clean, a good looking shape which keeps turning heads. I sold a 2010 GS vert and "somewhat" reqret it, but after trying the normally aspirated C7, i decided to get the Z06 C7, and that is another step up. I won't go back to a C6 GS. Prices are fantastic now on the C7's, the GS C7 is called by all the mags the best handling C7 of the bunch, so you won't lose anything in performance, handling and the C7 style imho looks better. But if you are shopping the higher level trim GS, take a look at the 1lz level Z06's also heavily discounted. There's no substitute for horsepower.
Same money: The C8 $59,999 price excludes at least $1095 shipping, which is included in (most) of the dealer quotes for C7's (i've see a few scumbag dealers pull it out of their quoted price) It is NOT in production yet, and there was no timetable for production announced. Chevy won't even commit to a base price model cost of $59,999 until August 15, when it is subject to a "negotiated" deal with a dealer. Demand is high, discounts are none, and no guarantee you will get a "base" model at $61,094 when the dust settles. The C7 is real, on the lots and subject to further negotiation. And you will have one more Corvette summer with a known quantity C6 or C7 GS than you will with a free beta tester 2020.
With your c6 GS, you can make no wrong decision: keep, buy C7 now, or wait for the promised land. Good luck!

Don't know if you track it or not, but if you track it, get a C7 GS. I have a 2019 M7 and it is a significant improvement over my C6. I have taken several seconds off of my best previous lap time and haven't yet pushed as hard as I can. What a car! And depending on its color, etc. it can just 'pop'! I ordered mine in silver with the black interior and had the two nose-to-tail black stripes put on by the factory and I can't believe the looks and favorable comments I get. Get a C7 GS is my advice.

Just replaced my '98 C5 with a new nicely appointed GS and now already thinking of replacing the wife's C6 with maybe a 7 speed Z-51 C7, Love this car for low $60k tough to beat.

I’m with you. ‘19 Z06, 2LZ, M7. I bought with plenty knowledge of what was to come with the C8 and have no intentions of a C8. Not that it’s s bad car but no manual trans is a big deal to me.
Love my C7 Z06 M7

I'm thrilled with my GS vert and have no plans to get rid of it. In 2-3 years when bugs are worked out and there's a vert I may think about a C8.

I have a '19 GS and love it. I have no plans to move to C8, until they get the kinks out and come out with a GS, and then most likely don't feel the need to move to it. We were told at the Bash, that Dec. is the planned first build dates, and the initial allocation are all sold to buying customers, so at best you have about a year to decide I would guess. The C7 end build is in Sep. If you want the C7 GS now, the deals are stellar!

Actually, I just bought a 2019 GS vert. After seeing the photos of the C8 vert, I'm pretty happy about my purchase. Perhaps in real life the C8 vert will look better, but right now it looks too much like the Batmobile. To me the beauty of a vert is that the top is really gone. Not just part of it.
PS: Like mentioned above, the deals are good. I even got $43K for my 2016 base Stingray trade with 20K miles!

On my 3rd C7...this GS is a beast in every way compared to my Z51 packaged C7. Car and drivers 10 best in 2019 ...great article on why the belong ....

I had a Torch Red 13 GS 3 LT 6 speed convertible that I loved. We bought it new and drove it from coast to coast and a lot in between. The wife fell in love with a Ceramic Matrix Grey Metallic 19 GS 2LT A8 convertible at our local dealership so we traded. Wow what a difference. The C7 is big improvement over the C6. We have 5,000 miles on it so far and I can't wipe the smile off my face.

The difference between the C6 & C7 is dramatic and felt like a two generation jump to me. Plus, the C7 GS has significantly more cargo space than the new C8, so if you enjoy long road trips, I still think the C7 will serve you better. I think the C8 will be a phenomenal car but a bit less "practical" than the C7 - it's all about compromises.
Whatever you choose, enjoy it and save the wave.
