Disappointed in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus ZP
2019 GS - Replaced original tires with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus ZP due to end of life on the original tires last month. I assumed there would be a bit less grip during the summer, but more in cold weather and rain. However, I was not prepared for the degree of traction loss during summer. I've lost traction a number of times while under hard acceleration in a straight line such that the nannies have kicked in and cut power on me - and I was not even WOOT or at high revs using max hp. I understood I would be getting less grip, but the amount of loss of grip is significantly worse than I had expected.
Next time I will be going back to the original Michelin Pilot Sport ZPs.

I currently have the same tires on my Z51 setup. Yes, less grip but not quite to the degree you had. They WILL last much longer. I drive mine somewhat hard and nowhere near the tread wear as the PSSs. Wherever you got your tires, chances are you can 'return' them after a short while with no issues.
I'm about to get the newer Summer 4S tires on some new rims today...saving the A/S 3s for winter.

I have a set of A/S winter on chrome and a summer setup on black... Best of both worlds

Good to know about the reduced traction. I am thinking about going with the A/S 3 + ZPs on my car this fall.

I have about 350 miles on the new tires, but I'm leaving tomorrow on a road trip. However, given the Michelin 30 day guarantee pointed out above, I will likely stop by Discount Tire on my return and discuss with them swapping them out within the 30 day window. I used the original tires in the cold and wet plenty, was careful, but never had any tangible tire grip concerns. Have another two weeks to use them and think about swapping them out.

I'd be curious as to your opinion on handling (turn-in, cornering, braking, etc.) properties of the AS versus the stock tires. Most reviews here claim little or no discernable difference... which seems to good to be true for an AS tire with longer wearing tread. It would help when I have to make a decision in the next several months.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't track my car, so I don't have that level of information when pushing the car very hard. Most of the roads by me have a limited number of tight turns. I don't slow down for corners market 35mph or higher, for sure. So honestly, in 400 miles, I haven't pushed these tires on the street enough in braking, turn-in, cornering situations to have an opinion yet. However, based on the loss of grip under hard acceleration a number of times - and I would certainly not consider that experience as excessively hard - there would have to be grip loss in braking and cornering enough to matter on a tight road driving firmly.

They do take about 500 miles to break in. While not as good as the Cup 2s they are a good compromise for the street. The Cup 2s will break loose as well in my experience. I’m very happy with my AS3s for the street. The Cup tires threw too many rocks.

I believe I have another two weeks to try them out, and I'm going on a road trip starting tomorrow. Haven't fully decided yet, but leaning towards swapping them. I should have enough miles on the road trip to ensure they are broken in and more varied road conditions to work the tires on to help make the decision.

I am very pleased with my AS 3+ tires. I have them on a new Z06 and have no traction problems. I also live in north Texas so our driving conditions should be the same. I highly recommend the tires.

Not sure yet only have them 2 weeks. taking a trip with them but i havent tested its traction capabilities yet. my cup2 im sure are best for summer but it would be nice to see how as3+ do all year and i do think they ride slight harder which somewhat expected with harder rubber and i did notice it but not much of a big deal if they handle well all year long. and yes no more road stuck in the tires. now only time will tell for me.

Will love my AS3 zip so far just like the above folks need to get the mold release off. I will say wide open and they spin but so did the original equipment tires.

I'm in NC and the Vette is not a DD, I'm staying with the summer only, OEM tires on the Z51. Yes, they can break away in the winter, but only under hard acceleration or turning. Besides, winter doesn't last long here. Not everyone agrees with me as some members of my Corvette club have gone over to the AS 3+s.
I can well understand anyone north of North Carolina going with the AS 3+ especially if the C7 is a DD.

Base Stingray 2LT. I have about 7500 miles on stock and 7500 miles on AS3+. Without a doubt, the stock were better in hot, dry conditions. Both tires I could get to break free punching it.
I never got the stock tires to squeal on a turn. The AS3+ did with a .91 reading on the g-force meter. As I drive in the winter, I will be keeping the AS3+ on the car, but have been toying with a second set of wheels for when the temps are above 60*. If I had to choose one or the other, I wouls stay with the AS3+ for the better cooler weather [erformance.
On another note, with the base C8 getting all seasons which can handle over 1G, this conversation will likely be moot as I am sure they will make our sizes.

An interesting take on these tires I don't recall seeing before. Thanks for the input--from all.
