Has anyone installed this type of side marker lights? I saw a couple of cars at Carlisle and they looked real good.
LED Side Marker Lights Smoked Lens 192-SMD Amber Front Red Rear C7 Marker Lights Replace OEM Sidemarker Lamp
I was reading that you need to take the tires off to access the OEM lights. That seems like this is going tobe a pain in the *** install. Any advise would be welcomed.
I cannot tell from your post to what product you refer, but I expect others have installed these particular markers.
The install is easy and absolutely does not require removal of the wheels. There is plenty room in which to work. There are videos on YouTube which illustrate the process and they are here on the forum as well.
By the way, in the front there is a hole underneath the marker lights through which you can put your arm and reach the two bottom tabs of the lights. You can then push out the bottom of the marker and, with a bit of maneuvering, get the top tab to release as well. No tools needed. Then make the connection to the light and push the new one back in.
If you do this and cannot get the top tab to release, open up the front liner just enough to reach the top tab.
By the way, I have a yellow Z06. Replacing the markers makes a significant difference as the red and yellow markers really clash with the yellow. I also enjoy that the markers when on are much brighter than stock. It is a nice effect and I like being seen at night.

No need to remove the wheels to install the side marker lights - just take a few of the screws loose on the fender liners (and remove the splash guards on the rear) and gently pull the liners back to have access to the back of the markers. Three tabs on each marker need to be released and then the markers will pop out. You can then disconnect the electrical connection, reconnect it to the new lights, and pop the lights back in. Then just replace the screws for the fender liner and pop the splash guards back on.
Be aware that some owners have experienced some interference with the TPS system with the LED side markers installed. If you do, you can install some chokes next to the electrical connector - sometimes it works, sometimes not. I have them in mine and it still recently threw a code for the TPS. This only happens when the lights are on.
I installed these side markers from JW Motorsports and I think they look great. I had no trouble with installing them and right now he's doing a black friday sale at $139,99 for the set. a lot better than what I paid.

Interesting... Not to hijack the thread but...
I've been considering going with leds - is the TPMS interference a commonly known problem or does it seem more isolated? When you say TPS you been the type pressure monitoring system TPMS - I assume the code is different in that it doesn't tell you which tire is low?
The TPMS issue is uncommon, but known. If you have a problem they will take the markers back..
If there is interference one gets a "-" displayed as the right front tire pressure instead of a number. This occurs while driving 15 to 20 minutes with the lights on. Everything else remains as normal. Turn the lights off and everything is back and displaying fine in a few minutes.
I got the Oracle Color-Matched LED ones and while you technically can do the swap without removing the wheels it's just a lot easier to do without the wheel in the way, unless you have little girly hands.
I just installed the Oracle tinted ones yesterday. Super easy to install. It did help to watch the videos first to know what to expect, plus the tips such as moving the front wheels out of the way, and how/where to pop the stone guards in the rear. It also helps to study the orientation of the three latches, so you know which ones to pull vs. push to pop them out.
I found the connector tabs are a little off, so 3 out of 4 required a bit more force to properly seat the connectors deep enough to catch the latch. Just be really careful not to break the latch or damage the wires. It's not too bad, just need to be careful, and take your time.
The end result is really nice, definitely improved the overall look. Highly recommended doing this mod.

According to the vendors they have sold hundreds of sets with relatively few returns. I do not recall the specifics but the return percentage is low.
The problem with forums such as this is those with a problem report it (appropriately so) and those with no issue do not bother to seek help or suggestions or even join the forum. Thus all problems which end up here appear much bigger than they are. And the polls here are self-selecting with many who do not participate.
New purchasers are much more likely than not to have no issue. If they do there is a good fix which may resolve the problem. If not, one can live with it or return the markers for a full refund.
