I suspect there is a bit of 'we need some work' going on w/ the OP. And they will do an alignment too? There is no need to do an alignment just because shocks leak.
The failure could also be caused by all 4 shocks coming from a bad lot from the shock manufacturer.
Possible, but highly unlikely. In my 16 years owning/operating a chain of auto parts stores selling Monroe and Gabriel shock absorbers never recall experiencing or hearing of a bad lot of shock absorbers from a manufacturer.
When deciding on a non mag ride car (see my post in a new thread) I found out that GM says a little leak is ok and they are priced higher than standard ones but all at the same time methinks you had what GM says is normal operating stuff
Who knows how much the shocks were leaking and what any given GM dealer knows about them doing so... if anything. It's just as likely (as all legitimately needing changed at the same time) that the dealer has no clue. But, all to your advantage. All the best.
Bought the 2017 GS with 8K miles in superb condition (from another dealer), but just got the work from the chevy dealer that all 4 shocks are leaking. Asking $4800 to repair. I asked them if it is warranty because of all 4 shocks at the same time, service advisor said no. I know that shocks are wear items but on a car that looks showroom condition with low miles all 4 busted? You have to be kidding me....
In for a oil change last week (final freebie), they found all 4 shocks were leaking. Only have 6900 miles on the car (17 GS). I know that some seepage is acceptable, but I was told all 4 need to be replaced followed by an alignment. Luckily it's 100% on their dime, but I ask if there's anything I should be aware of or to look out for. Thanks
Hey, I have the same issue. How come they covered it? Warranty? Thanks!

$4800 for 4 shocks?? My MRC shocks are only about $350-400 each. Do you have gold ones??

See at my post #13 above as some leakage is normal. I would just tell them no thank you, or if worried about it take your C7 to another dealer for second opinion..
Yes, the fix is under warranty. Although I don't track the car, I'm going to try to get the suspension "calibration update" out of them. Goes in tomorrow

Let me guess that the dealer that told you they were leaking is Van's Chevy. Wipe them off and check back in a thousand miles to see if they are dripping.
Eliminate malfunction indicator light when replacing the factory mag ride shocks with an aftermarket unit. Active suspension was a great idea for the Corvette. But, when replacing leaking factory damping shocks, you got "shocked" when you discovered that the cost on one factory shock could enable you to replace all four shocks with the best aftermarket shocks. If you do this however, the malfunction indicator light turns on and the car's top speed is limited to 80mph by using this kit, you can choose any shock absorber that suits you.
West Coast Corvette $404.45 (714) 630-6396
Note: I have no financial interest in West Coast Corvette.
Shocks replaced on GM's dime and got the Suspension Calibration update on mine. The calibration update is well worth the $, car rides totally different around town and there's no drop-off in handling when called upon. Money well spent
