Not in my case. It was plug it and pick it up after you kicked it off.

I have a different take. I sold the Range unit. Bought a Diablo and had Diablew tune it out. I could have used the canned tunes but I decided why not since I don't have any warranty. I changed to a firmer shift and have, according to Lew, 30% more throttle tip in without having to buy a TB or pedal foolers.

That solution certainly works, but tough on warranties.

The one I have, plug it in and forget it. Since I have had it, I haven't kicked it once. I have unplugged it twice just to see if there was and change. It isn't a Range.

Correct, all manual C7's run in 8 cylinder mode at all times.... unless you run it in eco-mode.

Another point not mentioned.

The torque converter's clutches (TCC) are modulated more, more slippage, when in V4 mode. This extra slippage is need to help offset the engine unbalance when in V4 mode to help eliminate the extra vibration. This extra slippage wears out the clutches faster.

This is the main reason I turned off the AFM in my 17. In my case I turned off the AFM inside the ECM, tuned it out, with a Diablo tuner because I did not want to 'fool' the ECM like the Range unit does.

Note:
Even with the the AFM turned off, by either method, there is still some slippage, its not like the old lock up converters that would completely lock up at 100% but the amount of slippage is vastly reduced.

I didn't buy a 4cyl Corvette or to save gas. Government regs forced this crap on manufacturers to meet fuel economy goals in class and believe it or not the Corvette is classified as a compact car due to size. I did have the shudder, fixed by the flush and have run the Range ever since, no issues.

When I am not using the power, if it wants to save a bit of emissions, I guess I will have to work around it as long as I can get power when I want to. Better than GM killing the program and me having to build a powerful car from scratch. I honestly don't see why people get so indignant about it. If I am cruising 300 miles, I got no problem with ECO mode and cruise control. I can always turn off the ECO mode

Sorry but at one point, the people of the world wanted cleaner air, etc. You want the public to adopt it, we will still be having 1970 standards today. You want faster action but less precise, call the government. It's not meant to please everyone and it never will.

AFM Disabler is a generic name that described a product that disables the AFM feature of a car. Range is the name of an AFM Disabler product manufactured by Range Technology.

OP. Have you first done the triple flush? IIRC, it is about $1000, give or take a couple hundred? If not, maybe start this first. IIRC, GM said something about the fluid being hygroscopic so the triple flush would take care of most of the fluid. As implied, it flushes 3 times. About 3.5 hours and quite a few quarts of fluid. I can check the exact number quoted if you want to but it isn't drop the pan and replace fluid cheap or easy.

After which, you can decide to use a dongle or Diablo programmer to accomplish the same task. The Diablo will do more though.

Read up on it. Too many testimonials about harm to your engine if you use it. It'd of been added in week 1 of owning the car...

M7s are an ECO mode 4 that you'd have to select manually. Not needed.
