The OP posted a for sell item at a really good price, not a ”too good to be true” price. If there is an issue with his post a moderator should be notified and they will deal with it. You’ve been a member here a long time, you should probably read the rules. Everyone has to be new at some point. If this is an in person pick up, I’d say the person that bought this top will be able to make their own determination, as to whether it’s too good to be true.

The reason I have one post is I just bought my 2015 Z51.
Believe me guys I appreciate your concern but I am meeting him to pick up the roof.
I have spoken to him several times on the phone and he is even bringing his Z51 to the meeting.
It is simply a couple of new guys to the forum and he is selling it for a few hundred dollars less then the others on the furom

Good point. It's good to be cautious in any online transaction, so if you are suspicious of an offer to buy or sell something, you should alert the site's moderators so they can check it out. You do that by clicking on the triangle outlined in red on each post (and also each PM). That sends a notification to each moderator assigned to a section.

I checked on this thread and no report was ever made that the thread might be suspicious.

Typically, we find that scammers selling parts they don't actually have are most likely to offer those parts via PM to users who have posted a WTB thread. And they insist on payment in a form that cannot be reversed when the item offered is not delivered.

It is a violation of site rules, as referenced in the link provided above, to jump into a sale thread and make any post that would interfere with the sale.

Hi Savewave,

Please check again.
I did send 2 messages to moderators via the triangle
requesting Moderators to check the IP addresses to see if possibly both of the 1st time posters are related, the OP and oldtimemags who coincidentally appeared, who turns out to be ANOTHER 1st time poster that appears in the thread as the "buyer". Another Red Flag.

I notified moderators twice of this all too common occurance of 1st time posters listing items way underpriced as a potential scam, asking Moderators to check both 1st time posters IP addresses to see if they might possibly be related. I received no reply, and believed a heads up was in order. No bashing occurred. No statement of either 1st time poster being illegitimate.

My statements were directed to alert unsuspecting potential buyers that both the OP and "buyer" were 1st time posters. These Red flags were all over this, and deserving of posting a heads up, no bashing or claim of either being a scammer, but worthy of letting potential buyers be aware of these Red Flags... nothing more.

Savewave, thank for your needed and valued attention to this thread.

While your unanswered messages to moderators are noted, your post was the result of someone previously scamming YOU! I checked your previous posts and it appears that you have unfortunately been a victim of such activity in the past. It’s obvious that you have used this situation to take it upon yourself to make declarative statements that as a first time poster and a slightly lower than most price, my ad was “too good to be true”

In providing what you perceive to be a “heads up”, you did your best to try and keep me from selling the items and genuinely passing on my personal savings to another Corvette owner. A first time poster is only a red flag if the terms are closed and one sided (like what happened to you personally). The price of my listed item was reasonable considering I’m a GM employee (which you could have simply asked me that question instead of making BS false accusations on an open forum). Pardon me for being a nice guy and passing on my savings and good fortune to another brother Corvette Owner. To then attack my buyer (which proves my point that your attempt wasn’t to raise a red flag, but to be an attention seeker) was taking an out of bounds situation over the top.

You then challenged my integrity a second time by asking me which Facebook sites I posted the same ad! Well, detective, it’s on three FB sites and the FB marketplace. If you were smart enough to message the admin on this forum, then you should have been smart enough to search the key words “transparent”, “roof” and “$1,000”! I even posted it on the Corvette Club I was a past vice-president. While your running a background check on me, annotate that I carried a Top Secret security clearance at the pentagon for 10 years! Do I pass your Red Flag criteria now?

Your argument makes no sense.

The "New OP" has item for sale and another new member stated he will take via a local FTF pick up ..

If you notice in his original post it was for local pickup -not shipped!

So I guess the OP planned to sell the top to himself?

That would be the only reason to check IP addresses on the new members.

99.999999% scams are sending money, not local FTF pickup..

By the way, most of the deals on this side of the world are "USED" $1100-1200 for local pickup..

Also,if you didnt notice in the photos, he has the older pins.. That will raise the cost of his roof if buyer did the SB or he/she has a newer vette..
You have to buy them or have them installed at your cost - SB 15-NA-016

The conversation in the thread has strayed significantly from the original purpose of the thread and continues to do so.

I engaged Horsepower Junkie offline to discuss his concerns. I didn't realize he had continued the discussion in this thread until a few minutes ago.

It appears to me that a deal is pending or has been completed on the item offered for sale, so I'm closing this thread to further discussion. If my presumption is not correct on the sale, the OP is welcome to re-post.

I've gotten the word offline that the transaction was completed to the satisfaction of both the seller and the buyer.

Seller with check.

Buyer with top.

It's always a good idea to exercise caution when making online purchases. Meeting in person at a public place to inspect the item offered and to accept payment on the spot is a good option, although not possible in many instances. If you have suspicions about any online sales thread, please alert the moderators.

Here's a link with other suggestions:
