well if you follow the link above, it isnt, all you have to do is figure out how to take the whole clip off and then is easy to seperate. heh
it can be removed easily with out removing the clip.

In Post #4, after removing the rear bumper fascia grills, the tabs must be released. The instructions call for the use of a flat bladed screwdriver. Can anyone provide some detail on this, which way is pressure applied to release the tabs?

On each reflector there are 3 tabs 2 go one direction and 1 goes the other,
I was able to work it off by going back and forth after getting the first outboard one released with plastic pry tool.

1. Remove the ten 7mm bolt on bottom.
3. Remove the two 10 mm bolts above the exhaust.
4. Pop off the mud flaps and remove the two 15 torx screws on each side.
5.On the bottom edge of bumper by the wheel pop the bumper loose from the upper part of the facia separating the two colored sections.
6. Now you can put your hand under the bumper and pop the red reflectors off the back.
7. Lastly remove the two 10 mm bolts on each side where the reflectors were and you are done. The bumper bottom will fall off in your hands.

Total time is less than 30 min and you can do by yourself. Then you can get the bottom painted. Installation is easier wish I had video taped it but you won't need that anyway. Good luck. Now mine is color coded to rest of car

Thank you for your information! I had some damage from a rear-end encounter and was just ready to take it in for replacement next week. I decided to check GM prices and decided to replace it myself. Well, the removal was ALMOST a piece of cake! I followed your instructions exactly, but something was still holding it. I found that there are two additional 10 mm bolts behind the license plate! They are deep set just outside where the license plate attaches. Once, I removed them it did, indeed, drop right off!

This saved me almost $500.00! This forum is a great asset as I already installed my MGW shifter based on console removal information I discovered from the forum. That saved me over $300 quoted by my dealer! BTW, I,M 80 years old and still wenchin'!

Ok... so can the lower half be removed separately? Theta's pictures seem to indicate GM wants you to remove the entire fascia first?

Yep, the bottom fascia can be removed by itself. However, on my '17, it didn't exactly "fall off in my hands", as it did for 2016 vette in post #14. After following all of the steps he mentioned, I had 2 clips on the top corners of the bottom fascia that I had to release. Pull straight back, firmly, and the panel will pop off.
