New Mickey Thompson Drag Radials headed our way!
MT has upgraded the ET Street II line to the ET Street R line for DRs. Also, a lot of you guys have complained the current DRs are a little to strip driven and not as much street. MT heard you loud and clear and is adding a new line the ET Street S/S to most likely combat the Nitto street/strip type line.
"Another new tire for Mickey Thompson unveiled this week is the ET Street R (the “R” is for Race), which will come in both radial and bias ply flavors. M/T is targeting these at the high modern performance muscle car market, and is, as Kundrik puts it, a race tire that you can drive on the street. The ET Street R blends the technology in the Street Radial Pro and the ET Street tires, and will replace the ET Street Radial II. These tires will be offered in 17-inch and larger diameters, and are fully DOT-approved.
"The average racer will pick up a full tenth and two miles per hour just switching from a slick to the ET Street R." – Tom Kundrik
The bias ply ET Street R will replace the previous ET Street tires, and will include a new size for the Pro Street-style cars — like the high-horsepower Drag Week Unlimited cars. This new tire is essentially the company’s revered 3191W “Bubba” tire that’s been confirmed to DOT standards.
There will be 13 popular 15- to 18-inch tire sizes of the ET Street R, with eight radial sizes and five bias ply, and all will feature proven R2, M5, and X5 compounds, which are the same used in Mickey Thompson’s drag racing slicks.
And finally, another new tire line that Kundrik believes will be an absolute home-run, is the ET Street S/S, which is an expansion of the ET Street Radial line. These are drag strip-ready radials, built upon proven drag racing compounds, with a tubeless radial construction. The S/S will be optioned in 18 sizes, ranging from 15 to 20 inches.
"The Vipers, GTR’s, Z06 Corvettes, and similar cars will all really be able to take advantage of these tires, and for some of the modern performance cars, they will be direct OEM replacements,” says Kundrik.
Kundrik says Mickey Thompson has improved the wet-driving performance by 20 percent with the S/S tire, without losing any overall performance.

Awesome.
I've always had good luck with my M/T drag radials over the years (one pair I have still hook well on my Z28 after 9+ years ) and these new ones look like they won't disappoint either.

I saw this earlier today.
Awesome!!
This was an overdo product. There will be many happy MT customers. Superior straight line traction in a street friendly tire. I'll be getting some of these.

Looking forward to them as well. It's the same compound as the ET DR II, but it looks like they have less tread compared to the ET DR II. I hope they're not like the Nitto NT-05R DR.

My Corvette on the other hand likely would not be able to hook on tires that old.

but after about 3k miles they had heat cycled so many times from the aggressive driving that they went slick before they wore out and these things are molded with NO tread depth to speak of
looking forward to putting these on a high hp twin turbo car daily driver instead of the toyo ra1 which is my favorite street tire and it handles very well and hooks up well if the pavement is above 60

I have a set of 265X40X18 Mickey DR's on 18/9.5 Z06 C6 Style wheels. I used them for my 09 Z51 and they function nice for the 1/4. Just would like to know if they would fit and be able to use them on my 15 none Z51 at the Drag's.

I obviously haven't test fit one of them yet but I can tell you that <27.5" OD has cleared but >28" definitely rub against the wheel well at the rear of the rear wheels where the hatch is. For normal street driving it was fine, but on launching and on the dyno when it was loaded down the LCAs would go backwards when it tucked and get into the fender liner some. It didn't bother me, I just got an extra pair of fender liners for $60 to put in when I was done having fun

Go figure...
Supposedely, BFGoodrich is supposed to be coming out with a variety of new sizes in their Drag Radial including 20's. Not very familiar with how good their drag radial is but I am amazed that there aren't more people making oem size fitments in their drag radials for people that want to keep the oem/sleeper look.
