Default What tool do you use to drive out your caliper pins?

I've never done this before. The tips of the pins being pointed it looks like a traditional nail-set to get started followed by a punch would do the job.
How did you do it?

Nail punch, stupid design. Why didn't they just use bolts. Not scratching the calipers is very difficult.

I used a recessed nail counter sink to start them and then a straight punch. The recess helps it to not slip off the pin.

Racing Brake has a nice little Brembo pin removal punch for $15.
http://www.racingbrake.com/product-p/ccp01.htm

It has a drilled end to prevent it from slipping off the pin and damaging the paint on your calipers.

Or you can make your own!

Nice! I figured somebody must have made a tool for it. I have a recessed punch but it isn't that recessed.

Love the two screws on my Stoptechs. Kinda wish Brembo used screws as well. Any idea why pins are used instead?

The pins are out in seconds. You'd still be screwing around and I'd be halfway done swapping the pads. I like the pins, not in love yet, as we're just starting our relationship! .

The pins are great! Easy to remove and reinstall, no threads to seize, etc.

That RacingBrake tool looks nice; I've run their ET500 pads before and been very impressed, glad to see they make them for the C7 Z51

Reviving an old thread here, but curious if any one has tried the RacingBrake tool on their C7? By just looking at the shared photos, it looks like the diameter of the RB tool is too large for the C7 Brembo pin hole, but perhaps it's just the photo tricking me??

A nail punch for finishing nails works great.
Check the sizes and buy one that is a bit smaller than the head of the pad pin.
Tap it our with a small hammer.

....and reviving again since this came up in my search regarding my Brembo pins on my SRT and also not wanting any tool slippage/paint chipping...
I just spoke with RB and they said the OD of the smaller/removal end is 4.5mm so not as big as pics imply...my SRT Brembo pins are 6mm OD so I am in the clear...ordering now and will confirm 4.5 when I get it in case it helps anyone....hope to find out in the near future if same is true on a Z06...still working wife on this as my summer DD...here's hoping

Harbor freight has a cheap punch set that works great. Just get the right side (slightly smaller than hole diameter) and hit the pin true, it shouldn't slip. (shorty hammer also helps getting the pins back in)

I take wheels off, replace all 4 brake pads, clean rotors and hub mating surfaces, and put track wheels on in less than 45 minutes now.

I have the Racing Brake tool and it works exactly as they say it would. I used it when changing to ceramic pads on my Z51 and would recommend it to anyone that changes their own pads. Properly used you will not chip the paint because the little indent in the tip keeps it centered.

I used a flat tipped nail set punch. It doesn't take much to drive the pin out.

I use the Brembo punch as well and it's a bargain. Works great and doesn't chip the paint.

Tap it out far enough to expose the inboard end of the pin.

Push down on the spring steel retainer with one hand and pull the pin out with the other.

Reverse to reinstall.

I also turn the steering wheel to get better access to the back side of the caliper.

The pads can be pushed away from the rotor with your fingers if they are tight against them.
