Default aFe CONTROL PFADT Series Featherlight Coilovers For C7 Corvette

C7 Corvette owners! The wait is over, aFe Control has released the PFADT Series Featherlight Coilovers for your Corvette. Even with the optional sophisticated Magnetic Ride suspension, the C7 Corvette falls short of the mark for real sporting performance. We have taken the proven Pfadt valving technology along with our proprietary double digressive pistons and packaged this knowledge into a coilover designed specifically for the C7s new suspension geometry.

If you want to open up your Corvette and carve corners on your favorite road, ditch your transverse leaf springs and OE shocks by installing a premium coilover shock. In typical Pfadt fashion our coilovers have been track tested and road refined to give you the best possible performance in all conditions.
The factory stock suspension is merely adequate for your average driver. The ride height is too high and the OE leaf springs still have the inherent ‘crosstalk’ and harshness that has been a mainstay of the leaf spring suspension design. This manifests itself in a harsh ride and uncontrolled hops when hitting bumps like expansion joints among sweeping turns. This leads to unpredictable handling characteristics you do not want in high performance applications.

Coilovers basically provide two things for your vehicle. The provide springs to support the car and damping to control movement. Our spring rates are increased over OE springs to give more support and the damping is tuned to those springs. The C7 Corvette chassis is so excellent that we can raise the spring rates and give the car the sporting character it deserves while maintaining a civil ride thought sophisticated damping. Like your car stiff, no problem… like it soft but still sporty, no problem.

The coilovers give you wide control of ride height and ride quality though our adjustments. Ride height can be adjusted by a turn of the spring collar with the provided tool and damping is adjusted with an easy to access ****. Damping adjustability is not only easy to do without wheel removal, it adjusts both compression and rebound in one simple click. This makes finding the correct setting for your driving style and conditions easy. Think you are not knowledgeable enough in suspension tuning to adjust things, then just look at our simple tuning guide and use our recommendations. You will easily be able to feel the 24 distinct settings on the front and rear thanks to the double digressive valve technology, each click will impact the platform of your car and allow you to set up for the most aggressive track day or a Sunday cruise.

Durability is a key factor in our design. Each Pfadt Series unit is built with precision CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum, and anodized to add further durability with a brilliant finish that lasts. Each tube is type 3 hard anodized for low friction and long life. All of the Pfadt shocks feature a mono-tube design, which uses a floating piston to separate both the oil and nitrogen gas inside. This promotes a predictable feel in your suspension and the nitrogen charge controls cavitation and maintains the feel even under the most demanding track conditions.

The front shocks are inverted to provide an easier access to adjust the front dampening settings on your C7 Corvette. We use a unique feature called CIRC or (Concentric Integrated Remote Canister) system, which adds 3x the gas volume from traditional coilovers. The end result is to create further consistency in performance, and improve a wider temperature range throughout the stroke of the shock.

Our FeatherLight shocks incorporate the use of our proven BOA system or (Ball on Axis) mounting system in the front. This provides a sealed, low friction system with plenty of articulation and no noise. On the rear we use a more traditional eyelet attachment to take advantage of the unique packaging in the C7 rear suspension. We include an aerospace grade ¾” monoball housed in an aluminum eyelet with a 17-4PH Stainless Steel shaft for a durable quite low friction mount. These mounting solutions both allow the FeatherLight coilovers to articulate freely, maximize travel and transfer that damping directly through high performance joints not soft factory rubber.
In shock travel, every millimeter makes a difference. When you end up having reduced shock travel, you find yourself using a stiffer spring to compensate and prevent bottoming out on normal everyday streets, which then results in an unnecessary harsh ride.

Quick Data Points:
• Bolts-on to the 2014-2015 Corvette C7 including Z06.

• Proper coil springs eliminate transverse leaf cross talk, which is common in Corvettes during hard spirited driving.

• Compression and rebound is easily adjusted at the bottom of the front shocks, by a simple twist of a ****. Rear shocks are adjusted the same but towards the top of the shock.

• Monotube design uses a floating piston to separate oil and gas, to allow for more predictable shock performance.

• Inverted front shocks provide reduced unsprung mass allowing for better wheel control

• Ball On Axis system adds needed shock travel, which is normally lost to clevis style or pin style upper mounts.

• CIRC system triples the gas volume to provide a wider temperature range, for a consistent shock stroke operation without the need to drill holes on the body to mount an external canister.

• Constructed of aircraft grade aluminum housings, to provide a lighter but stronger shock.

PFADT was challenged with rapid growth and unable to keep things going. Aaron Pfadt has joined aFe to utilize our resources and be able to produce the Corvette coilovers and many other suspension items. We have invested in an additional facility and countless resources to bring this product line back, including support and servicing previous customers.

aFe is very excited to expand our involvement with the Corvette community, both with power products and suspension.

Honestly you stumped me on that one, I had to check with the engineers. Looks like it's H900 17-4.
