Tow hook receivers in stock next week for Z51/C7
We have the front and rear tow hook receivers made for the C7 corvette. The front will have the option to mount in center or in the stock position of the front grill. The rear will be like the stock ZO6 receivers but the front you can install anywhere along the length of the sub bumper. Our mount can be installed as to not bend the grill when the tow hook is installed. Yes you do have to remove the front and rear bumper covers...... I would like to install a set for someone here in San Diego at no charge to get pics. give a call to 858 527 8727 John

We also will be making a foam insert four our tow hooks to be stored in. The most cost effective way is to rout out for the new tow hooks we make. I did it on my ZO6 insert.

We now have a few receivers built and ready to ship. You can order at www.zl1addons.com. First 3 customers will get a $30 credit for their feedback. Install will require mechanical skills and a step drill to drill 7/8 in aluminum and drill bits of 1/8 ,1/2 and 3/8 inch

Mounting method for the rear receiver is self evident.
But the front one eludes me. Is it simply inserted into a single hole drilled into the outside wall of the front cross member and backed by a washer on the inside of that wall? Or does it extend though both walls of the front cross member with the washer behind the back wall? If the latter, I'm curious how you gain access to the backside of that cross member in that location.

The front is easy, it goes though the 8x2 inch crash bar and is held in place with nut and washer. We make the nut 1/2 inch so you do not have to drill the back of the crash bar with a 3/4 bit most do not have. Once the front bumper is removed you can get to the rear of the crash bar. The larger hole of 7/8 is done with step drill. Yes it goes though the front and back of crash bar. If some one close by will come by I will install them for free and take picks of the install. The good thing about our receivers are that the front can be positioned as to not hit the grill like OEM receivers and the rear goes strait out and not angled down.

I like the look of your tow hooks and the rear receiver looks like a solid unit. But I remain skeptical about the front receiver. My concerns are two fold:
1. Installation. You say that "once the front bumper is removed you can get to the rear of the crash bar". The last time I had the nose off my C7, it seemed like there was quite a bit of hardware behind the front cross member at that location.
eg:
2. Strength. A tow hook should be able to bear the strain of pulling a 3,000 lb car out of a sand pit (sometimes without the aid of wheels that roll). This design puts the entire load on an area defined by a 3/4" washer. A larger backing plate would instill greater confidence. (I guess your design allows me to install my own if I wish).

Skylane765 sent me a free set earlier this year. I was supposed to have pictures and reactions up MUCH sooner then this, and I apologize to him and you guys. I have barely been on the forum in months, life got busy.
The tow hook(s) are great quality. I wish I had a car built months later with the frame that went with the OEM receiver from the factory, but I wasn't lucky.
Monday at Mid-Ohio there was a 2016 Z06 that blew his motor. He hasn't bought a tow eye yet or brought it with him. We unscrewed mine, and screwed it right into his factory OEM setup and it worked fine.
Install isn't too bad, but you DO HAVE TO REMOVE THE FRONT bumper. There are various videos (youtube) and posts on that. Then you remove the 3 silver screws holding on the plastic bumper support/crash asorb piece.
I installed the factory OEM Z06 front grille at the same time. Depending on where you want the threaded shaft to exit your stock c7 or Z06 grille you will have to do some trial and error measuring. My measurements in the one photo (from the edge of left flange and bottom) end up coming out in the top set of slots two over from the left in the Z06 grille.
Drill your holes, hold the receiver in the front with a crescent wrench and the rear with a box end.
You will have to use a exacto knife and cut that plastic bumper support to allow it to pass thru.

Thanks. That clears up a few things. (I was assuming that it was installed at the same location as the factory front receivers.) Also, for those who haven't done it, removing and reinstalling the front bumper is really not that difficult.
