Default LMR Thermostat and Billet Housing

So , with all the debates going around the benefit or not of a thermostat, I decided for my application I wanted to have my engine stay at a more consistent temperature with the Texas climate. Its not to add HP, but to maintain consistent performance when on the track and around town. Heat Soak is real, and any little bit of help is a plus in my book. The LMR unit is a complete thermostat 160 degree and housing, not just a small replacement pieces that gets replaced in the OE unit. I will be installing soon and will take pictures along the way. Once installed the computer will be adjusted with the thermostat specs as in order for all to be working properly. Here are a few pics of the unit before installation..It aint cheap, but neither are these cars and its a quality part, don't skimp here.

good choice, mine has been working great for about 6 months or so. only one problem, the housing makes the rest of the engine look like crap.

For what it's worth to the people on the fence, the housing and machining is nice. It's a lot of money for what it is, but the bottom line is that it works, and you don't have to worry about problems. Sometimes peace of mind costs money (well, almost always, sadly).

Kind of like the decision to go forged - it's not cheap, but you're buying reliability. Not saying there won't be another option in the future once other brands get their issues fixed, but I thought I'd just throw that out there.

If you're spending the money on this, I'd recommend also doing the DeWitts radiator - you'll get the full benefit of enhanced cooling with that combo, and not have to worry about coolant temps anymore (yes, even at WOT on the track as the argument in the other thread was discussing).

Pretty happy with mine so far as well. Temps are running 180-190 in the 95-97 we've had in Dallas lately. When it's in the low to high 80s ambient the car is around 165-175.

Thank you for the nice post and write up Clint. We have been installing these on every package we install here at LMR and have not heard of one issue, with or without a tune. This is a great option to help keep your coolant temps down in these summer months. We do have plenty in stock. Please feel free to pm/email/or call us at the shop and we can get your order out with tracking number the same day.
