3M tape and spoilers
Just purchased a wicker bill spoiler painted in carbon flash. I have a base C7 1LT with no spoiler. The spoiler came with 3M tape on it but has instructions for both just taping it on or drilling and bolting it on. I'd rather not drill holes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My take on it is this.
Mechanical fasteners always trump adhesives.
My splitter and rockers are all drilled and fastened with stainless steel screws.
Take your time, measure twice and be aware that there are areas that are no screw zones (for rockers)

3m adhesive tape is being used to hold smooth sided enclosed trailers together along with holding even window into sky scrapers and anything in between. As long as the fitment is good and there are no gaps the tape should work fine no matter the speed. The key is smooth flat parallel surfaces that have been cleaned. The tapes are anything but cheap and its not one tape fits all apps.

I think I got it on right and good. Looks great. I just couldn't make myself drill holes in a brand new car. Thanks for your thoughts.

Also this spoiler is a bit taller than a basic z51 spoiler so i imagine at 170+ its catching some serious wind resistance.
Im kinda iffy either way. If you dont plan on exceeding 150mph very often i bet tape only is fine
This was a lot of work for just 2 bolts!

I have that same spoiler! I opted for tape + bolts. I dont doubt the tape is strong but i know I'd always be second guessing it. Ive already done 1 1/2 mile runway event and got up to 169mph and eventually want to do a 1 mile event. I dont want to find out the max speed the tape can handle the hard way

I like the look, where did you purchase it from?

Z51 spoiler is bolted down with approximately 8 bolts. I cannot remember that xactimate number. it also has small strips of double sided tape. Zo6 spoiler and Z51 have the same stud pattern. Bolts right on.

What he said ^^^^^ ours has is a Z51, I added the Z06 stage 3 winglets and drilled and used ridiculously strong 3m double side tape and trust me its been up to some speed😎 and no problems .

The spoiler was attached with only 3M tape and after several washes and speed tested still holding. Just make sure to prep both surfaces clean and wax free.
