Too bad for those who want the HB fender fit because the affordable Forgestar CF5V is available in 20 x 12 83mm.

But anyone who wants to order Forgestar wheels take a look at the Howey Industries website
.

How much bigger is the 305 vs stock Z51 rear tire in width?

Any shots of said tire/rim from the rear of the car?

305 - 285 = 20mm

A bit less than one inch. In my experience, around 6-7mm pushed out from stock (in the rear) is going to start looking like it is sticking out. 10mm is pushing it for sure, I prefer to stick to 5 or 6mm out.

That means you need 15mm on the inside for the rest of the tire.

Now 325/nn-20 is a problem ?

That was a 325/25-20 Super Sport tire, at 26.3" tire diameter, on a 20 x 12 85mm rear wheel. But it's not really one of my setups because it is not a top tire for autocross.

295 tire on the rear ? This is a subject about supercharged cars looking for rear traction
.

Tire width has much less to do with power vs traction than does rubber compound.

You don't need 12 inches to pop a wheelie, I have done it plenty of times on 9....

Wider tires look cool though. Not cool enough to run around with them sticking out, however.

I appreciate the comments from vendors but, not just in this thread, in any wide wheel thread it seems no one likes to post a picture from the REAR of the car.

The problem is bigger tires look odd sitting so close to the edge, what helps them look better it to lower the car, which presents its own problems.

The other question I guess becomes how square are different tires? My S4 came with crap Continental summer tires that looked 2" less wide than their spec, huge curvature to them.

I replaced them with ASW 3's and the exact same size the tire sits perfectly square with the rim.

So if we're looking at 20mm more width doesn't help if the tire cups up more.

Are the other tires on the list pretty square to the rim?

305 on a +77 but these are drag radials rather than MPSS and they are shorter tires

Default 305 vs. 325

One pic is a 305 tire on a 21" x 11" wheel.
One pic is a 325 on an 21" X 12" wheel.
The 325 rubbed on the passenger side.
I have a non-Z51 and wanted the 305's.

Little Red, The key there is the offsets on the 325s, what were they? 90 or more?

Where did the 325s rub? Looks like a good amount of camber, do you know how much?

Default 305's vs. 325's

Both wheels were Forgelines bought thru Ben. I actually do not know the offsets. I should. Ben does. Camber is -1.2 on both pics I think.
The 325's rubbed on the fender lip and on the inner bracket.
This was due to incorrect alignment, partially.

My alignment is now correct and is stable at 180mph, with the 305's.

That basically shows all we need to know. 325s are wide enough to rub both inside and out at the same time.

305 is the widest, maybe one could push it with a 315. Also keep it under 27" diameter or it can rub the wheel well liner. The C7s are not good at taking a lot of rubber.

Not looking to hijack, but any info out there on 18s?

Thinking abt a custom 18" front/rear setup w/ 275/315s for track duty on my Z51 car. I'll be running neg 2.5/2.0 camber, so they'd be tucked in some.

Anyone do something like this & what widths? I'm thinking 10 & 11"--any wider, possibly?

18s are a smaller diameter which means they are closer to the control arms. too wide and they will hit when you lift the car.

I have some 18x11 +77 with M/T 305 drag radials that don't stick out or rub anything. The 305 DRs don't bulge like a super sport and fit nice. if you are going to run a tire with a lot of rim protection I would bump the offset to 83 or so, on a 315 maybe 86-88mm. Contact Ben@WeaponX, he has done a ton of setups and knows what is going to fit right.
