Default Anyone with 650+ WHP done the Texas Mile?

Just trying to see if I can get a idea for what speed I can hit. I'm around 690 at the wheels. Hoping for 190-195 but not sure if that can be done. M7 z51.

There were some turboed C6 Z06s that broke 200. Sounds like you are at least in the ball park.

700 wheel will net like 180-185 when topping out 5th gear I'm thinking. All the cars I've seen break 200 requires 800+ to get there in a mile.

So looks like I should be happy with 185 MPH. Really hoping for 190 but I know at those speeds you need a lot more HP to get it.

Thanks for the info!

Should defiantly go 185. Those mph's listed are from a Colorado Event at +Elevation.

Default Texas Mile

This is where your rear tire diameter will help you or hurt you.
Also, these Texas Mile guys will verify your ZR rated tires are rated at 186+.
If you can get decent traction at the start, I think you will do 190.

That is good to know. I was about to purchase Nitto's NT05 they are ZR rated but how do I find out what max speed is for them?

The 2016 rules changed according to the Texas Mile folks.
I would ask them directly.

TIRES: DOT-approved tires in good condition are required to be used. The tire speed rating must exceed the speed rating that the car is attempting to achieve. For more info on speed ratings: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=35

.......Most recently, when the Y-speed rating indicated in a service description is enclosed in parentheses, such as 285/35ZR19 (99Y), the top speed of the tire has been tested in excess of 186 mph, 300 km/h indicated by the service description as shown below:

285/35ZR19 99Y 186 mph, 300 km/h
285/35ZR19 (99Y) in excess of 186 mph, 300 km/h

Thanks. I'm now looking at Nitto Invo's instead. They are Y rated. I tried calling their tech for questions at Texas Mile but no call backs. They are the hardest bunch of people to get a hold of.

Weather is going to affect your top speed. You should be in the 180s, potentially getting 190 if you get a favorable tail wind (north to south). I believe all of the results are posted going years back. I believe October 2012 or March 2013 was the best weather in recent years. Look for a CTS-V that ran 196.2 - that was the record up until a year ago when one finally hit 200.

They respond best by email. They've been dealing with Beeville trying to make sure they could come back, as well as setting up an Arkansas event so they've been spread thin.

The lack of wind resistance from the thinner air, should be much more of a gain than any small loss in hp on a Forced Induction car due to thinner air imo.

I use to top out sport bikes all of the time and bikes are very UN-aerodynamic. Even when they are slow at altitude from 0-100 due to 30% power loss on an NA engine, they'd have more top speed.
