Default Nitto 555R Drag Radial Reviews

Does anyone out there have any experience with the Nitto 555R Drag radial? I've heard it is not as sticky as some of the other drag radials, but I was wanting to get opinions on this tire.

Any track experience information on tire pressure, launch rpm's, 60' foot times and traction would be be appreciated.

Thanks

I ran those years ago. I found them to be inconsistent. One time, good launch, next time, same procedure, no hook. I've found MT ET Streets to hook the best, just not for long on the street.

I have them on TSW Interlagos 18's and am not that impressed. I have a '15 A8 Base, and did not notice more than .10 sec 60ft. I'm in Denver and run at Bandimere Speedway which is an NHRA track and always has great track prep and at 5814ft above sea level. My very best 60ft is only 1.980 with an ET 12.814 @ 111.23(DA 7161ft). That was a cool night in Sept and the only mod is the AFE CAI. All Stock my best 60 was 2.000, 12.930 @ 110.69. I know there is obviously some difference in ET & 60ft with the 19's vs 18's but not a good difference with the 555R's. Plus they are too sticky to even do a standing burnout on a dry surface with all the nannies turned off. Love the Wheels(40 lbs lighter total), not a fan of the tires, will definitely go with the MT ET's when its time to replace. Plus I'm very close to going with the UPP Twin Turbo Kit...

PS-our Density Altitude has been over 8700ft in July, I need those TT's just to get close to sea level performance.

I feel your pain with the high DA's. I think your track is the only one with higher DA's than ours.

I've never raced with a DA LESS than 6,500 feet.

I have run NT555R's on two different cars. My old 2013 SRT8 Charger with 580RWHP and now on my 2015 C7. They work great for me on the street and track. I have been my best 60fts on them compared to street tires. They also worked well in the rain the times I got caught out. On my charger I got close to 10K miles and atleast 60+ drag strip passes.

on my C7 I use 305/30/18 on a set of TSW Interlaggos = 1.59 60Ft and been 11.04@125mph bolt on only no internal mods.

I will see next month when the tracks open how the hold up with my new setup @ 650RWHP.

I guess the DA plays a part in it, but a best of 12.81 sounds terrible.

DA plays a big part in making HP especially N/A. 8700 ft sounds like sucking in air through a straw. You might be making more like 360HP.

It's because of responses like this that I don't post times or mph results up here in nose bleed territory. You lose about 3% of horsepower for every 1,000 feet of altitude or density altitude.

Flat landers.

Yup, DA plays a huge part in a cars power and speed. DA on my closest track is usually 4500+. My best time stock with the Stingray was a 12.64. My friend with an auto stingray is also usually getting 12.6-12.8 at that track. DA is huge.

100%

The 555R is the most inconsistent DR I have ever tried. One pass would be a dead hook and the next I'd roast the tires. Even the old BFG DRs were better. Once I went to M/T ET Street DRs, I never looked back.
