Default C7 Z51 - 18" wheel for rear?

Hello,

I did search, but found very inconclusive results so please bear with me.

I'd like to know if 18" rear wheel will work on a 14 Z51. My buddy already has drag radials in that size laying around, and 18s would be better for the strip than 20s anyway, so I am curious.

If they would work, are there any particular brand of wheels that you guys would recommend? I'd prefer OEM of course, but I don't believe Chevy makes / offers a 18" rear for the C7, correct? If I have to go aftermarket, what offset should I get at a minimum?

This would be purely for the rear only, purely for drag strip only.

There are aftermarket Z51 style wheels in 18" x 9.5" with 79 offset and 18" x 10.5" with 56 offset. Our stock 20" wheels have a 79 offset. If you are using 285-40-18" DR's you could likely use either. However, the wider wheels with the 56 offset will stick out quite a bit farther, so a 305 width tire or wider may rub. I also think you could run the 305's on the 9.5" rim, as I ran my 285-40-18 Nitto 05R's on 9" rims with no issues. A 40 aspect tire has quite a bit more sidewall so has less fitment issues vs a 35 or 30 series tire.

I would check with House of Wheels who is a Forum sponsor.

I run 18" CCWs front and rear on the track. I typically have 295x30's all around, but I have also run 295x40 and 315x30 on the rear with no issues.

Thank you for the photos Z06ME! Have you been to the strip yet and/or driven around town with them yet? Any rubbing or bottoming out?

I have C5 5 spoke replicas on order, 18 x 10.5 56 offset (Same specs as you) and plan to mount 285 NT05Rs on them.

They are nt 555's 305/40/18. For reference, my car is a '15 Z51 non mag ride lowered on stock bolts. Drove around town and no rubbing. I will know more this weekend. Attending the 1/2 mile race in Rantoul Il.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I went with 18" C5 replicas from house of wheels, GM factory TPMS sensors and Nitto NT05r's.... Haven't had a chance to go back to the drag strip yet, will post back after I run this setup.

There are many choices out there to choose from, I went with TSW Interlagos (matte black) in 18x10.5 with 315/30/18 MT II drag radials. The wheels are way lighter than stock and fit perfect with no rubbing issues. I bought them from Alex at Speed Depot.

My car is an auto and the shorter tire really helped me launch off the line!

What are the wheel specifications you are running (width and offset, front and rear)? Do you have the magnetic suspension?

Thanks in advance!

Currently, I'm running CCW 18x10's in front and 18x11's rear. Offsets:Fronts are 58 and rears are 79.
Rubber: (Hoosier A6's or A7's) either 295/30/18 all around (for autocross) or 315/30/18's on the rear (for track). I find that I need 5mm spacers all around to solve slight rubbing issues on ducting and, to lesser extent, upper A-arms.
I do have magnetic shocks (love 'em).

Some people report good results using C5 Z06 rear wheels on all four corners of a C7. I'm looking into that setup as well, hoping to get 315's to fit up front.

lots of good info from forum members with much more experience than me:

Thank you very much! I love the magnetic shocks too. Stiff in the corners and soft when you hit the curbing on the unloaded side of the car

Also, seems like the links provided aren't working for some reason. Thank you for providing them, but I'm getting "The requested page was not found" errors.

Hi, so would the 18x10.5 with 56 offset work front and rear on 2014 z51? I do track days and was trying to get same size wheel on all four corners.

Hi, what is the width of the c5 z06 rears? People are running them on all for corners of a C7 with 315/30/18s?

My understanding is that they are 18x10.5 with offset of 56.
Well, I can't really say from personal experience how ell they work on a C7.
I'm intrigued because others say that they can run 315's on all four corners of a C7 with this set-up. But a10.5 width wheel with 56 offset is way different than the 79 offset on our stock rear wheels. I'm sure they must stick out some. But MTI racing seemed to like it just fine. Since all I know about this set up is what I've read on the forum, I'm afraid I don't have the expertise to venture an opinion.
