Want wider tires and maybe wheels
Perhaps, this question would best be answered by a wheel & tire vendor who is knowledgeable on wheel and tire fitment on C7s. I want wider tires for my 2014 Z51. I am considering 2 options: new tires, or new tires and new wheels.
Option A: Buying the widest tires that will fit on my OEM wheels?
Option B: Buying new tires and wheels. I striped my OEM wheels (see photo) and I really like the look. However, if I have to buy new wheels to get the "big tire look", I will do that. The new wheels should have a similar black/red color scheme and they must be high quality wheels. What size wheel is recommended (offset?) and what size tires to go with those new wheels?

Read through the posts in the link below:

As to "B Stead" posts, he does not leave his posts on the forum for more than a couple of hours. He is very knowledgeable on tire/wheel sizes so, you can PM him if more info needed. I do like your striping. I generally do not care for black wheels, unless something like your stripes introduce a visual separation between the black wheels and the black tires.

Yeah, I have a file of fitments. I don't leave it up because I post it often. There is one fitment not posted because it is extremely advanced and requires stiffer springs. Also, note that selection of tires is important because custom wheels can be ordered. Here is the file:
Here are the easy setups:
Front, 275/35-18 R-S3 tire, on a 18 x 9.5 56mm wheel
Rear, 305/30-19 R-S3 tire, on a 19 x 11 79mm wheel
Front, 275/30-19 AD08 R tire, on a 19 x 9.5 56mm wheel
Rear, 305/30-19 AD08 R tire, on a 19 x 11 79mm wheel
Here is the big tire setup:
Front, 295/30-19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, on a 19 x 10.5 56mm wheel
Rear, 315/30-19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, on a 19 x 11 79mm wheel
Z51 suspension required and no lowering, increase camber if needed
Here is the 20" setup:
Front, 265/35-19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, on a 19 x 9.5 56mm wheel
Rear, 305/30-20 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, on a 20 x 11 79mm wheel
Z51 suspension required and no lowering
I can specify over-the-counter wheels at about $900 each but they are not one-piece forged wheels.
Here is a setup for the stock Z51 wheels:
Front, 255/35-19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire
Rear, 295/30-20 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire
Here is the Volk setup:
Front, 265/35-19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, on a 19 x 9.5 55mm Volk G25
Rear, 295/30-20 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, on a 20 x 11 69mm Volk G25
Increase rear camber if needed
Not attempting a 305/30-20 at 69mm rear wheel offset
Here is a setup for the base OEM wheels:
Front, 255/35-18 AD08 R tire, at 25.0" diameter
Rear, 295/30-19 AD08 R tire, at 26.0" diameter
Here is the short tire setup:
Front, 315/30-18 Rival S tire, on a 18 x 10.5 58mm C5 Z06 rear wheel
Rear, 315/30-18 Rival S tire, on a 18 x 11 75mm Oz Alleggerita wheel
Rear, 315/30-18 Rival S tire, on a 18 x 10.5 58mm C5 Z06 rear wheel, sticks out, tuning choice
Z51 suspension required and no lowering

With aggressive fitments, it doesn't matter if the wheel sticks out but only if the tire tread is under the fender. That's a few mm of play compared to what the OEM setup does.
The taller 305/30-20 sometimes has problems. There is one fitment here of a 295/30-19 front and 315/30-20 rear. That fitment has a Z51 suspension, avoided lowering, and increased camber. It is posted often.
If worried about the 305/30-19 on a 19 x 11 79mm wheel then avoid the AD08 R tire. That tire has a squarer shoulder and is double extreme

I am running 255-35-19 & 295-30-20 Non-Run Flat Pilot Super Sports. They are the one's for BMW. You can check widths of both sidewall and tread on TireRack to get the widest ones available, whether you go with Pilots or some other Max performance tire. There are 3 different 295-30-20, all of which have different tread widths/specs. Also note, that our 285 rears are quite wide for 285s.
I could have gone with 305's but the width difference wasn't much, and the diameter was off for the different aspects. I also have my 15' Z51 A8 lowered as much as possible on the stock bolts. I've been there... done that with wider wheels and offsets that wheel dealers claim will fit, and then I had to buy a fender roller, after cutting a tire. At least on the Vette, you won't cut a tire if you rub, but you could crack a fender.
One advantage to using your stock wheels is that the offsets are correct, and wider tires will protect your rims even more than stock tires.
Non-Run Flats definitely ride much better in E & T with Mag Ride. One can still feel bumps and pavement irregularities, but the harshness is completely gone.
