Best CAI for the C7
Did a fruitless search. I swear forum searches blow.
I know this is subjective, but If you were looking to spend money on a Cold Air Intake system, which would you buy?
I am a bit shocked at the pricing of these for the C7, but it is what it is.... Thoughts????

I bought a lightly used dry filter AFE from a forum member. There was a dyno done and posted on here that showed the gain to be ~10hp for the CAI as a standalone mod. It's up to you if that gain is worth the money or not.
Honestly, I didn't feel anything from it. I know there are a few other vendors, but based on everything I've read, the factory air box is pretty good and the gains will be minimal. Maybe some other people with something other than the Afe will chime in.

From a different perspective, don't waste your money. A CAI is Cold Air Induction. There is no way to get that in a C7. This is a very different design than the C4-C6 bottom feeders. The stock air box on a C7 flows well. Add a green filter and off you go. With about 500 bucks left in your pocket.
If you want a new air box that looks nicer, go for it. HP gains from one of these is minimal, at best. Just my opinion.

I been wondering on this same question for a while. There is actually a video on youtube of a guy losing HP with a AFE on his C7. After lots of thought and research I just replaced with a K&N air filter for 60 bux. 500 bucks for a maybe or maybe not 10 hp gain isnt worth it to me. IMO these CAI should cost half of what they do..

The efficiency of the OEM system is outstanding. The most anybody should do short of having some serious modifications is drop in a green filter and call it a day. Your biggest bang for the buck will be found elsewhere.

I have a Z06 so it's a little different story. I bought the GM intake because, frankly, I like the way it looks vs any other option. When I did the meth install, I also purchased the WeaponX intake tube. I'm happy with the results - not so much with WeaponX but that's probably another story.

Sometimes more is not aways better. Things must match.
I was running the Lingenfelter 'green' filter in the stock CAI which performed better than the stock air filter on my 2015 C7/Z06 at the time but noticed another A8 Z06 going faster at the track that day running an AFE CAI. So I went out and bought the AFE which comes with two air filters; the dry "Low Flow" gray filter and the Blue "High Flow" filter.
I installed the AFE CAI using the blue "High Flow" filter (of course) which is also the one used in the video where the LT1 C7 lost power. Well I slowed down too at the track compared to the green filter in the stock air box. So I was going to take the AFE off and go back to the stock CAI when it hit me, the guy that was going fast in his stock Z06 was running the gray "Low Flow" air filter so I decided to give it another try using the dry "Low Flow" filter which now made my car faster than the green filter stock setup.
A fairly recent time slip (11/18) running the AFE CAI using the dry 'Low Flow' air filter on the stock tune.

AFE. Ran it on my C7 z51 and now on my Z06. Both were grey filters non oiled. Love the results. Def could feel the difference
