Overall I am enjoying my 2016 Stingray. I have two complaints. One is the stupid skip shift and the other is the sloppiness of the shifter. Today my husband installed the shift skip eliminator so one complaint should be fixed. Just to prove that he really loves me he told me he would replace the shifter later this month (my birthday).
I am familiar with Hinson, MGW, and Hurst. My husband had a lot of problems with the Hurst in his Challenger so he wants to avoid it. What are your thoughts on the Hinson and MGW?
I installed the Hinson first. It rattled and transmitted a lot of vibration into the palm of my hand. Returned the Hinson and replaced with MGW. I know MGW has a million fans on this forum and now i know why.
I put the MGW in almost a year ago and have been really happy with it. A few months ago I swapped the stock shift **** for their flat stick and cue ball, it's made this really solid mod even better. I definitely recommend it:

I think I had less than 500 miles on my 2016 before I swapped out the shifter for the MGW - the first time I shifted, I was amazed at the difference.
My Shark Gray is also a daily grocery getter and the MGW is the only way to go. I can't believe Chevrolet would actually put a sloppy shifter in their Corvettes.
Regarding the CAGS Skip Shift Eliminator - yes, I installed one as well. You'll still see the warning, but you can easily shift into second at very low speeds. A simple plug and play (or shift in this case).

Are you sure this is installed correctly? I installed one prior to tuning my car and the warnings also went away.

Pretty sure it was installed correctly - thought there was only one way to plug it in. I was informed by another forum member that you would still see the warning, but the CAGS SSE would allow you to shift into second.
What Hurst shifter did your husband have?
I tried the Hurst billet shifter in my C5 Z06, but the throw was a bit too short.
I switched to the Core Shifters modified Hurst shifter, and still like it so much I transferred it to my 2014 Stingray. Throw is about the same as stock but it is a good compromise between precision and shift effort..It uses Hurst internals from Hurst billet plus 2 shifter, and Hurst stick.
The main reason I stayed with CoreShifters model is I like the retro look of the old school rectangular Hurst stick and ball..
The Hinson shifter is a shorter throw and you WILL see an increase in shift effort over the stock and MGW. Even MGW realized that making the throw too short can cause other problems so they back off on later models. Really, the stock throw of about 3 inches is a good compromise.
I don't know which Hurst he had. He doesn't have that car anymore. He liked the look and feel of it but the part wasn't machined right and he couldn't install it. After calling the company he got a part that fit but it rattled and he was always messing round with it. He got a new Challenger and he likes the stock shifter.
He said he won't put the Hurst in my car. He has heard good things about the MGW.
MGW are the Hinson you will not go wrong with in the car. But I like the MGW the way it worked in the c7 but not drove one in a c7 in the Hinson yet. Only going from one in a c5 & c6 car...

I just went through he same dilemma as I didn't like the sloppyness. Did the research and 90% of the people said MGW. I purchased it, install went smooth, about 2 hours taking my time to make sure everything was perfect. Major difference and all slop is gone and the shift is much more precise. You can order right from their website for $360.00 plus shipping. I was able to find a 10% discount when I did mine so maybe you can locate that.
