Default Larger DI Injectors and Pump options are here **Redline/LPE**

So it’s been three solid years we have been exposed to GM Direct Injection on the small block platform. Much has been learned in that time on the differences from what we understood from port fuel LS engines. Unlike port fuel we have been significantly handicapped due to lack of upgradable hardware. This being injectors and pumps. Both of these items are very complex which has been a big part of delay in aftermarket response. Until now…

We have been working closely with our long time partners at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and the manufactures at Nostrum Energy, in a new evolution of injectors and pumps. Nostrum Energy, LLC has a long history of direct injection development and LPE has developed the high pressure pump

By now if you follow the recent hype at SEMA you will of heard of this new endeavor. The team at LPE has been busy on the engine dyno in working on the injector characterization and we are working the field testing side as a set is currently in our 2016 Twin Turbo 427 Camaro.
This is an exciting time as its been in the works for over a year. As more evolves we can release further technical information and results. Thus far the injectors have been dyno tested to 1100 hp on pump gas and 900 hp on E85 with no issues. This is a big breakthrough for high HP DI engines. The pumps are being tested over the next month and we will discuss the results in due time.

The injectors are rated at 22 grams/sec @ 10 Mpa of pressure and use a patented K-DI kinetic nozzle geometry which provides high fuel rates without sacrificing atomization . Here are the increases of the stock injectors;

Low Flow (L83 engine ) 80% more
Nominal Flow (LT1/L86) 44% more
High Flow (LT4) 24% more

The injectors are also E85 compatible.

In addition to these injectors LPE has developed a modified DI High Pressure pump that flows over 30% more then the stock LT1 and 10% more then the LT4.

These pumps have a 12.0 mm bore and use a DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) coated piston and bore.

This combination and coordinated with the correct fuel pump cam lobe will be enough fuel mass to support 1100 HP on standard fuel (not E85) and 900 HP on E85 with an assumed BSFC of 0.55.

LPE will be the primary supplier for these products and Redline Motorsports will be an authorized dealer. We hope to have some more "field" results in the next 2-3 weeks. Cool stuff!

Amazing! Any issues with the new pump being paired up with a larger than stock fuel lobe on the cam? Pricing? Availability?

I assume the pump will work in the LT1 without requiring other internal upgrades such as a cam? (Obviously will require proper tuning). This sounds like better alternative to Stingray owners that were looking to do the Z06 HPFP..

Its actually designed to be used with a camshaft fuel pump lobe that is 6.5 mm which is about the 32% we typically have been using. At this stage of the game we can use way more pump so this is just the beginning. In order to have a fuel system to hit the 1100 BHP level would require the injectors, pump and the proper camshaft fuel pump lobe.

There are many engineering factors to be considered when expanding these fuel systems. Since the pump is all RPM based its a time vs volume so as much stroke and bore is a plus.

These new items are not going to resolve the guy looking to make 1300 plus....at least not now....I will tell you there is another larger injector in the works so we can only go forward from here.

Yes the pump can be used on a stock camshaft. It flows 30% more then the stock LT1 pump and 10% more then the LT4.

The High Pressure pump will retail for $ 1,495.00

These High Flow K-DI injectors will retail for $ 495.00 (each).

Also note that the pumps won't be ready to ship until end of December and the injectors have a target of February. This is from a combination of final field validation as well as getting production up to meet demand.

So.... a set of injectors will be $4000? That's a typo right?

A quick thank you to Howard for doing such a great job keeping everyone informed about these recent advances in the Gen V DI fuel system that we released at the SEMA show.

Here are some videos from the engine dynamometer testing of these components.

With VP109 fuel:

With E85:

We have some pictures on our forum and we will be posting more technical data and videos on our forum, this forum and elsewhere over the next few weeks.

I am sure Howard will be posting more updates as well, especially from the Redline test vehicle.

Yeah well good luck with that pricing model. I guess you think you are playing in the LAMBO market where cost is no object. It's not like you cant make 1300 now WITHOUT the use of these new injectors and pump.

ouch.. that price!.. lol.. corvette guys are not rich.. that's part of the reason why we buy them.. hopefully that price per injector will drop.. I'm sure after more come out they will.. supply low.. demand high.. pick your price.. economics 101..
