KostaT26- On the driver's side, there appears to be some sort of filter. What is that for?

No way that the rockers can come from the yard. You have to brake these things out & cut them out. They are glued in, in diff spots all around the rockers. This was the hardest part of the job for me just crazy braking small piece's & cutting up this piece like you have to do. Also here I had a 2014 z51

Body shop did the pant work on all my panels also got a friend from a shop to help do part or start the pass door panel on getting it out. Plus these doors getting them off you need help also they are heavy. Robert

I'm super late to the game here but I am doing a widebody conversion on my 16 base as we speak (by myself). Tbh I took both of mine off in one piece and managed to not bugger them up too much. I'm taking them off the donor wrecked Z06 to save $ and am installing them myself as well. Not too hard just takes a lot of patience.

I was told this too and got mine off without breaking them.

cant wait to see - unfortunately, I have little to no skill in bodywork, so its not a project I could trust myself with

It's honestly not nearly as bad as it appears to be. I'm by no means a body man and stripped mine down on my own. It's just very time consuming not so much tedious. My car was a damaged salvage and the firewall had a small fire. I was quoted something ridiculous to repair it through a shop (roughly 8k) but bought the firewall from gm (700.00) for the 2 piece and 130.00 in glue plus another 100.00 for misc grinder pads nad a glue gun and handled it myself and it came out mint!

It just goes to show us how and what we can do if we really want to.

Cost-
3500$
Oem z06 panels from junkyard
2 quarters
2 fenders
2 rocker panels
1 rear bumper
500$
Z06 vents and 4 scoops
900$ in clips fender liners brackets and extras required
1000$ for Paint
So my total was=5900

There is plenty bumper removal videos and everything else u need to remove the difficulty level for those with the videos was 2/10
Only hard part was the rocker panel removal, but it's more time consuming and make sure u keep all the shims the new rocker lines right up to the shims . I would rate that a 6/10 difficulty level but still pretty easy and straight forward

Why I did this
I did this cause currently I'm pushing 800hp the c7 tire sizes weren't cutting it and car would go sideways flooring it anything under 60
I'm running 19" replica rims now with 345 30 19 Toyota proxies 888r and man the way it hooks and tracks straight while spinning is amazing!
So def worth it just for that and the looks are an extra plus here is my before pics then during and after enjoy!

Before pics

During pics

During still

.....

Sorry only letting me upload one pic at a time I wish I could post allot more
