C7 race seats & airbag light

Mirrors are not connected through the seat. I have a mop seat that I use for track days and the mirrors work fine. On another note, don't fool the sensor into thinking the factory seat is installed. You do not want the air bag in the steering wheel to function if you are wearing a harness in a race seat. Do a google search on that. It causes more problems.

2016 vs 2017 maybe? I know for sure my 2016 Z06 mirrors do not work as soon as the seat is disconnected.

I have a 2017 GS. My mirrors stop working as soon as the stock seat harness on the driver side is unplugged.

Both my side mirrors work 100% normal. My car is the standard,non-
upgraded interior, and in fact the only option I purchased is the A8 transmission.
I do have a roll bar and 5 pt harness' for both seats (to keep the looks symmetrical)

The memory package (at least in the C5) is controlled through the seat control module located under the seat.
Good luck... GUSTO

Sorry for not responding sooner. There is no way to accomplish this without completely ruining an OEM seat. The module(s) under the seat are not meant to be removed and put somewhere else. There is no way to code this because there is hardware in those modules necessary to power the mirrors. I spent considerable amount of time with a service manager who is a car nut and we couldnt find a way.

The one thing I concluded is this car is not designed to be modified in this fashion. While many cars have these airbag sensors and complex "modules", I think this is the only one where so many core functionality becomes completely broken if you change the seats. I know Porsche GT3/RS, BMW M3, Mclaren, all function fine with either very minimal to no coding. They all get impacted when you remove the seat, but there are ways to make them functional.
I am actually not surprised. Corvette never was a track rat car. It is a sports car that tries to compete in the luxury segment more than the hardcore enthusiast. It is much more of a 911 Turbo S competitor than GT3/RS. It never was, it never will be. They have to sell cars and the market for 911 Turbo is much bigger than the niche GT3 market.

It's not just mirror. It's also airbag. And more importantly passenger side airbag. Not having driver's side OEM seat also completely breaks the passenger side airbag even if the seat on that side is left.

On this Camaro6 thread NickyRacerBoy claims that some engineer he was working with was able to defeat the airbag light etc. When I asked for more details he was vague and not so helpful:

Are you sure about the passenger side airbag? Below is a pic of the passenger seat airbag that deployed after a crash at Road Atlanta. You can see the memory buttons on the driver's door panel, so it's at least a 2LZ car. It was a side impact so the front air bag on the passenger side didn't deploy but it seems reasonable that since the seat bag deployed the one in the dash would have if the impact was frontal.

I looked at some sort of plug and play device and reached the conclusion that while it might be possible, by the time you get another module to program (or rip apart the seat), plus simulate the multiple items that run through that module, and then actually convince a dealer to program it.....I'll just live with the red airbag light and dismiss the message at start-up Since I'm the only one that drives the car, the mirrors never get moved so it would have been a "nice to have".
