Default Just had an odd overheating warning.

I just completed a Borla x-pipe install on my A6 stingray. I was sitting in line for food when a warning to shut off engine and cool vehicle flashed. I looked down and it said 250 on the temp guage. I immediately shut the car down. The outside temp right now is around 39 degrees. I let the car sit for 2-3 minutes, fired it back up and the oil temp read 220 with the water temp slowly creeping down. Cut it off, then recycled it again and all is at normal ranges of 220 for water with the oil the same. Is this the computer relearning or a glitch? It just doesnt sound right for oil to read low and water to read high.

Has to be a glitch some way no way that a 250 temp will read that much diff even at 39 deg out side that fast. That is crazy in it if it does it any more I would let the dealer see it if you still have a war on the car.

I have LT headers with a 3 inch mid pipe and the Borla ATKA NPP cat backs on the car mine never did do that after chging every thing out.

I thought the same thing. The metrics were way off for it to be that hot. I took the car out again and it is fine. No CEL or even a change in temp. I had the heat on max, maybe that caused some kind of misreading with the heater core and computer.

I would hope not should have been cooler with the heat going full, But also looking at what you are saying from the elec side of it maybe a weird reading out of it. but for sure man keep a eye on it. Also if you have a heat gun to read the temp keep it in the car with you for a time to see if it does it again. If you don't it would be nice to have one nice for diff stuff a good one is really not that bad in price. Robert

Maybe a good time to remind all of something I just learned.

1. A check engine light that occasionally flashes shows an intermittent problem.

2. A check engine light that stays on constantly indicates that a problem is a hard failure, affecting the emissions output, drivability or safety of the vehicle.

3. A check engine light that is flashing while the engine is on is a sign of a serious problem, which can cause damage to the engine. This is serious and the car should not be driven in most cases.
