2014 M7 clutch noise with video. Anyone heard this before??
I have a 2014 M7 Z51 that has 11k on the clock and just started making the noise in the attached video when letting out the clutch in 1st gear. Anyone ever heard of this??? Thanks!!!

I have the same noise on my 2014 C7 manual. I'm pissed. I have taken it to 2 dealers. They have sat in my car and heard it with me but they can't figure it out. I have had this since I bought the car in 2014. I'm about to write a letter to GM. I will not live with this problem. ANYONE have a problem with a sound as you release your clutch that is like a moaning sound? Not a squeal or squeak or clicking. Love it if this can be understood and corrected. Thank you

Waltlane:
I have a 14 M7, Mar/Apr 14 build date, 15k miles.
I occasionally get a short duration low pitch noise letting the clutch out after downshift ....typically 2-1. And I can feel a low freq vibration in the stick when it happens. Started sometime after I hit the 10k mark.
It is not chatter/skip (ala clutch/PPlate slipping)
Dealer said the think its a solenoid, but since it's random/neither I nor they can duplicate it on demand....
Its random enough that the only parameter I can attach is speed < 20 mph when it happens.
And ambient temp makes no difference.
(Before someone goes there, I've been driving clutch for about 35 years, half of those in a C5, so I dont think technique is the problem.)

This is pretty much the sound I have in my '14 M7. It only occurs upon release of the clutch pedal and happens in 1st-5th. Not all the time. Last year the dealer couldn't find it and this year the Service Mgr. rode with me in the parking lot and heard it and asked me to bring it in this spring so they could put pick up mikes in it while they drove it. Finally someone else has the same problem I have. I want to take it in next week. If anyone gets any info on the cause please share it and I'll do likewise. Moaning sound is a good description; it's like something is rubbing for a few moments and then it's gone.

Just an update on the C7 clutch noise. Took it to the dealer Tuesday and they called to day after isolating the noise with microphones. I'm told(their words) it's something with a disc in the differential and the parts are ordered and will take a day and a half of work. After all is done, I'll share everything with anyone else that's had this problem. PM if you need.

Do any of you with this sound have the 1-4 skip shift adapter installed?

Does it only do it when you are turning from a dead stop?. If you take off from a dead start from a stop sign and the car is going perfectly straight right from the initial start up, does it still make the noise?
If your answer is yes on the ist question and no on 2nd question and you have a regular limited slip rear end , change the rear end oil and add the limited slip friction modifier additive available in 7 ounces from any good auto supply. Say goodby to the moan noise.

I have the same issue. You can occasionally hear it when letting clutch out from a stand still but downshifting at moderate speeds almost always hear it. it's a odd noise to describe but its like a cross between a moaning, chirping and squealing. My wife even noticed it and asked about it, and she can't hear **** when it comes to odd noises in cars.

I have a 2014 M7 with around 11k miles that makes a similar noise, but it seems like it only does it after the car hasn't been driven for a few (3-4) days. If I drive it often it doesn't make any noise.

I too have this (M7). Only starting from a stand still. Very random. Mostly in 1st although I have duplicated started in 2nd. I can feel a vibration in the shifter. Delaying taking it to the dealer until its repeatable. Not looking forward to them ripping into my drivetrain.
