Default HP Tuners A8 transmission tune: WOW

My friends at Kaizenspeed in Kennewick, WA did an amazing job getting my C7 setup with a supercharger system, engine tune, and transmission tune. Aside from the obvious power increase the S/C yielded, the most impressive difference is how smooth and quick the transmission shifts. As a matter of fact, it shifts so fast that I sometimes feel like I am in a DCT car. :wow:

Anyway, I'm thinking all A8 C7's deserve a transmission tune because it is obvious GM really limited the A8 with its factory specs. If any forum members live near Kennewick, I encourage you to call Kaizenspeed! They're a great bunch of guys who possess a lot of experience and industry knowledge. Most importantly, the customer service is awesome!

Is it any different at WOT do you think? Or primarily part throttle? Mine already shifts pretty darned hard and fast at WOT.

There's a difference with part throttle and WOT. Like you, WOT shifts really fast (feels like a DCT) but unlike you, it's firm but not hard. Whatever Kaizen did to the programming really improved the transmission's performance. Such a shame they do not come like this from the factory.

I'd imagine yes but I am sure it's possible to easily flash back to stock for dealership visits.

They can still tell it was flashed. Going back to stock won't help.

Which is why you get a spare PCM to tune and keep the stock one on the shelf.

I don't normally visit the C7 pages, but today I did. Chuck did my 06/C6/A6 and it was a different car when he was done with it. Intake, thermostat, tune to engine and transmission. About 18 months ago I bought a 2011 GS and he is going to do the remote tune for me. Unfortunately a couple weeks ago he almost lost one of his fingers (he sent me pictures) and he is running behind. I can tell you it is worth waiting for. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Carlisle years back and he is the real deal. Totally dedicated to customer satisfaction and goes above and beyond to make people happy. IMO, it is worth the wait and the money.

Best wishes

There is also that little turbine thingy that gives it away. ;-)

Tuning the A8 is a no-brainer. My buddy had his Whipple’d Camaro SS TCM tuned by Kaizenspeed as well and dropped .3 seconds of his 1/4 mile time with just the trans tune. My only beef with their tune was that they did not zero out the TCC Desired Slip tables. You definitely want to do that to avoid the shudder issue...

Default HTP File

Did they give you a copy of the tune file? I would love to look at the new settings if you have it.

A copy of your tune file would be great. Looking to tune my A8 I have an PH Tuners unlocked TCM installed already.
