GAME: If I were a lost lash cap, where would I be?
Lets play a game - If I were a lost lash cap, where would I be? Some 15,000-20,000 miles ago I dropped a lash cap into my motor when trying to install it. Oh the horrors! Now, I have the entire block stripped apart for upgrades, and can't find the missing lash cap
Rules:
1. you cannot name off a location the cap could be found that is already named below.
Winner:
Whoever figures it out will get one complimentary bad luck lash cap mailed to them free of charge! LOL
- I expected the lash cap would have been in the bottom of the oil pan, but alas, its not there!
- Now that I have the block stripped, I've checked all cavities and its not in there either.
- the cap is too large to have come out with an oil change.
- nothing inside the motor looks damaged from it getting stuck anywhere.
Where am I??

The only flaw I see in your theory is you are assuming the cap didn't change shape. If it bounced around above the windage tray for a while it could have become small enough to find its way out the drain.

But on a brighter note, you wouldn't believe - for two weeks I have been looking and hoping it would turn up but it didn't and said to myself as soon as I post on the forum it will turn up. Sure enough. Right after making my post I found it!
Lisa the lethal lash cap was hiding inside the oil pickup tube! I previously had searched the entire oil pan, and used a small mirror to look under the pickup tube but never took it off. I just took it off the pan and banged it a few times and all the sudden heard "ting ting ting" and couldn't believe my eyes. It was wedged between the mesh screen and the bottom of the inside of the pickup tube! Case closed!
