Default Can you upgrade to NPP on a C7 Base Stingray

Looking to find out if you are able to upgrade to a NPP option outside of the factory. My main concern is that the engine sound management option would not be available in mylink.I wonder if its possible to install and just have a mild to wild exhaust. Given that 35k out of the 40k produced in 16 had NPP I cant find a lot of info on this and need some help. thank you in advance

You could install the NPP mufflers, but there's no way to control the valves. They'd be open (loud) all the time.

^^^Very accurate info. Most pull the fuse that controls exhaust valve that the sound management system adjusts and their car is loud all the time. So if you can get your hands on a good NPP axleback for a good price, it would be a worthy swap if you want it louder.

Which option will sound louder. Npp mufflers or no mufflers. ( for those that live in states without emission test ).

Possible I think, but probably not cheap.

Akropovic makes a control module for $600 that interfaces with the car driving modes just like the regular npp. Then things get a little fuzzy. Akropovic also sells an actuator kit for $1100. It's possible to buy "complete" used C7 npp mufflers for $1000 ish. The question I have is do these come with the factory actuators or not, and do you need the Akropovic actuators for use with the Akropovic controller?

So, worst case, about $2600ish, but maybe $1600ish if the used mufflers come with actuators and you can skip the Akropovic actuators. (Which might simply be GM actuators)

Should be pretty close in loudness with no mufflers having a very slight edge. When the NPP is in track mode, it is nearly a straight through exhaust. Here's a video that I found a while back showing how the NPP is configured. When NPP is in a quieter mode, the exhaust valve on the exhaust tip connected to the pipe that's nearly straight through closes up, forcing the exhaust through the muffler's chamber and through the perforated holes in the non-straight through tip, which kills the loudness. With the NPP in track mode, the valve is wide open allowing the exhaust to take the path of least resistance. I'm sure a little bit of the exhaust is still making its way into the chamber and through the perforated pipe/tip, but should be negligible. Enjoy...

if you want NPP style control just go with the Armytrix system. It has a fob that controls mild or wild... not cheap but then again retro fitting NPP would not be either way.

No mufflers here and it sounds great and very little drone.

Before doing the muffler delete, did you have the NPP mufflers to start with or the standard exhaust?

Did you happen to take any before and after videos of the exhaust sound? Curious to see how much of a change it was. I suspect that it was a huge improvement.
