Default Lower Deflector on front bumper (GM Lower Deflector 23280393)

What are the point of these? I accidentally ripped one off unloading the car from a trailer. They are almost $50 each. Whats their point?

I think it has to do with the aerodynamics of the car, deflecting the air that would otherwise hit the tires.

Its for a z06. Let me know if you would be willing to sell one or both.

And you can be sure that GM didn't pay to put them on the car if they didn't provide a benefit. Parts not installed on a car lower the cost of the car and don't have warranty problems. If they weren't needed to meet some specific engineering goal or regulation requirement they wouldn't be on the car.

They are basically there to add a little tiny bit of extra mpg but a lot of extra ugly. Haven't had mine in 2 years, been to 150 mph several times.
