PowerStop pads turning rotors brown
Finally after trying to contact a Power Stop tech for over a month to talk about the problem i was having discoloring my rotors i was able to talk to one. He decided to sent me a new set of pads at no charge. He said he wanted the old pads back to test them and would send a shipping label. In less than a week a box with the new pads arrived at my home but no label. Well yesterday i spent 3 hrs cleaning my rotors and installing the new pads he sent me.

Can you let us know how it goes with the new pads. I have the same bronzing issue and they sent me a new set. I haven't got around to installing them yet. What grit paper did you use to clean the rotors?

After about 2100 on the Z26 pads I can see a very slight bronze tint when in my garage under fluorescent lights, which may be a resultant color shift from them, but don't notice it outdoors. Had I not read about color changes on this forum I would certainly not have noticed it at all. Perhaps if I compared to a new rotor I would see a difference, but if so it certainly isn't something that bothers me even in the slightest.

I have the tint, too, but doesn't bother me. But I do get a squeal with the first stop or 2 leaving home or work parking lot if the car has been sitting for a while. After that quiet as a mouse, tho. Not sure if the squeal is related to the tint...

I haven't heard a peep out of mine yet, hot or cold. Did not sand or even clean the rotors like some do, as I only had ~1900 miles on them at the time. Did the recommended break-in ritual recommended in the instructions, though.

No squeal or tint with mine; they were installed along with new rotors.

Power Stop has several different pads. Which pads are you guys having discolored rotors with?
Is anyone having the discoloration with the Z16 ceramic pads?
I used them on my 2008 Z06 with no problems or discoloration of the rotors.

I have the Z26's. I haven't decided whether to swap with the replacement pads they sent. While the rotars are tinted a bit, there is no squeel and they perform great.

My Focus ST has a slight "brown" tinge to it if I look REALLY close (those are Z23's) and I can see where some people might complain.
But if you aren't looking for it (and I wasn't until I took my wheels off the car to redo my struts) you won't notice it.
Only the extremely picky will complain here.

Mine are also brown, like the pic. Don’t understand why some turn brown and others don’t. Mine look terrible. Coming off this spring for another set. Not sure yet what brand I’m going with.
