HP Tuner wideband etc getting started:)
I'm getting the HP Tuner Pro suite and a new dedicated laptop and need to decide on a permanent wideband sensor.
So far I'm leaning towards the NGK AFX. Thoughts on this sensor?
I plan to mount it on Kooks catted x pipe in the bung they put on the system just after the long tubes.
Thank you all for suggestions and now back to reading on how to use HP Tuner and soak up the knowledge. I'm pretty excited to log and learn.

I would get the new AEM that connects directly to the OBD port.
Also these cars require you to log more parameters to really understand what is going on. It would be great if someone with more experience could share their configuration file.

This is a very timely thread. I too am considering HP tuners but have no idea where to start with sensors. Here was my email to HP tuners:
Hello,
I am interested in getting hardware and software to tune my 2017 Zo6. I am only interested in tuning this car and am starting from scratch. Vengence racing recommended me to you. What do you recommend for my application?
Thanks, Sam
Their response:
Sam,
You are trying to learn on one of the most difficult GM platforms there is. I would highly suggest contacting the Tuning School for training, especially if you plan on major modifications to the Z06.
www.thetuningschool.com
I would go with the VCM Suite Pro for GM and a quality wideband sensor kit.
If you are ready to order, you may do so here: http://www.hptuners.com/order.php
Makes me with I had another late model GM to guinea pig.

Sweet!
Im only doing haltech and kooks with tune for now and will have a tune emailed to me so I can compare stock to the tune from Steve at RDP. I know this is cheating!
I plan on logging on a dyno here locally and make adjustments as I learn and read as well as compare with others. I know it's a steep learning curve but I have winter here to get some reading done and maybe even take one of the online classes.
I found three AEM x series o2 kits 30-0310, 30-0333 and 30-300. Being a noob I don't know what is best for my application I think it's the 30-0333

I bought the AEM 30-0333 on Amazon.
ERM Performance looks like a good knowledge base as well and they do training.
HP Tuner forum looks promising as well with a bunch of people willing to help us noobies

I get my HP pro kit and AEM wideband tomorrow and will be installing kooks headers with cats and haltech intake on Saturday.
Any easy things I can turn off or adjust so I don't get check engine lights etc?
Looking forward to logging and adjusting.

Corvette Camaro Truck Tuner in Tampa
I like the older NGK/AFX. The newer ones I don't like. Its a different company now.
I believe the older units where made by Ballenger Motorsports. Now they sell their own brand, which is the same internals as the older NGK/AFX units. https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/
I like the guys at the tuning school. I usually help them teach the advance course once a year in January. Its fun and keeps me fresh on knowledge.
Ed at ERM Performance is also a good resource for learning.

The one I am getting was recommended by Tim @ EFI. It works with standard hptuners and can datalog it alongside other pids

I am trying to figure out a time I can install the kit and wideband. Need to send my TCM off to hptuners to unlock before tuning.

Not sure if there is a difference, but I just received my flex kit and wideband from Tim @ efi.. the model number on the wideband is 30-0334.

Happy I have the 7 speed
Man sooooo much to learn on the HP Tuner should have my wideband up and running by the weekend. Then time to log and look at lambda for AFR.
Think target lambda on 91 octane is .85 to .88

Are you going to use your wideband just for tuning? Or on a permanent basis? I plan to leave my wideband in, but want a "Factory" hidden mounting solutuon. I don't want any wires showing.

Target lambda should be the same no matter what fuel you use... even E85. That's why I prefer Lambda over afr.

its a semi permanent install but most likely will be permanent got everything buttoned up on Saturday but haven't taken the dash apart to hide all the wires for now. I'll snap a pic and post it here.
