Overheating issue, any ideas?

Anyone actually figure out the cause? Mine just crossed 50K miles and just started this on Hotrod Power Tour and I had to bail. Only does it after 30+ min on highway at higher speed. Restart fixed it. Zero issues side roads driving, only after 30 min highway. Just bought Z06 fan assembly which will have a new PWM controller on the harness.

My '14 Z51 overheated after a 3 hour road trip while entering a traffic jam at S.A. My car was towed to local Chevy dealer, electrical fan and water pump replaced under warranty. Problem gone. Good job from Cavender chevy at Boerne, TX.

Well, my VIN is for a 2014 Z51 and not the Z06 so I'm not sure a search by my VIN will give me the Z06 part numbers. Thanks anyhow for the response.

Picked up car today... you can hear the fan more for sure as it's higher power/speed. Haven't had a chance to do a 30 minute highway run to see if it's truly 100% fixed.

'15 Z-51 overheat problem
Thanks to 911Hunter for the info, makes sense!
I experienced my first overheat problem this weekend with my 15 Z-51. EXACTLY as everyone else has described. Traveling from Clearwater to Miami, ran like a champ until I hit congestion in Miami on I-75 and then the overheating, and coolant overflow. Restart wasn't possible. Battery died within an hour of waiting for tow (showed up 3 hours later)
Towed to dealer and the first thing was a new battery. They kept the car running for over two hours no coolant leaks, drove it, still no coolant leaks and eventually told me the low battery was causing the bogus overheating and low oil signals.
Driving back to Clearwater Saturday no issues until I hit congestion 3 hours into the drive, and sure enough the temp guage started climbing fast and I got the overheating warning. Pulled off for a 30 minute lunch, restarted and have had no more issues. WTF!!!
Hate to have to replace the thermostat and fan as 911hunter did, but if that's the only option.....

It doesn't take a break of a large amount of time. My last over heating episode was nothing more than, pull over out of traffic, turn off motor, open door to lose the RAP power, close door, restart, temperature drops like a rock, drive away. A quick restart will correct the problem until the next time the problem needs correcting. As I said, I'm waiting for one more hit of this issue and then the fan gets replaced.

Hm... I would buy that answer but a clogged radiator would stay clogged and a simple restart of the motor wouldn't change that. The fact that my fan was not running and screaming in an attempt to cool the coolant seems to say "fan" or fan controller. As soon as I restart the car, my fan starts and the temperature goes down like a rock falling.
