Since you couldn’t get a dyno before this is when first modded.

From experience, I doubt you will get anywhere close to 8’s with 900 engine Hp. I have 850 wheel, so about 1000 engine hp and I ran a 9.92 at 140. I can improve my 60’ a bit (1.57) and maybe get down to a 9.6ish but even I am still a ways off from 8’s..

We’re expecting around 850 RWHP and that equals only around 920 engine. Check the qtr times in the regular Corvette section. You may be running a little slow.

Average drivetrain loss from crank to wheel is widely accepted to be approximately 15%. You’re numbers would put that at about 7%. Much too low. No car is that efficient.

Can you reference any specific threads regarding regarding quarter times? I’ve not seen anybody come remotely close to 8’s without 4 digit+ rwhp power..

That is a dam good set up in the car on that if truly at those hp #. Has to have a dam good tract set up off the line plus 60 ft & all way down the track. Car would also have to be on rails going down the track.

I have not seen all that good of 60ft in the c7 yet but guys are getting it down just like the prev c5 & c6 cars. Robert

This thread has some info on the subject of running 8’s. all the cars in there that mention running 8’s are north of 1200 rwhp. Its take a LOT to run 8’s in a C7.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...are-there.html

Also, I may not have mentioned it but my 9.92 was through a manual trans rowing gears. An auto would be .3/.4 faster.

Gota be careful with dyno numbers. 1200rwhp dynojet car drives 2 blocks to the mustang dyno and puts down 900.

good test is the mph comparison type stuff

On this rwhp # in my c5 also with a RHS 427 with a F1X north of 1250 RWHP But not so good track I could only get 8:92 with a 1.27 60 ft also with 15 inch rear weld bead lock on the car auto car. Robert

I fully understand the differences between Dynojet and a Mustang Dyno. But, saying that there is a 300 hp difference is a little excessive. Being realistic, when I first got my car tuned it was 828 on dyno dynamics, and then later about 812 on a mustang dyno, and 909 on a dynojet. For a 1000 hp motor they are within 100hp.

All of the guys out there with 1200 HP have reputable shops doing the work and tunes. For the record, I am not saying that you cannot have a car that runs in the 8’s with 800 whp. What I’m saying is you cannot do that with a C7..

Either way, I look forward to your results!

We all know that the guy at the computer on the dyno can make those #"s 20% in one way or the other. Billy what ANT is asking also here. Robert

Is it the stock ring gap that is killing the stock lt1 pistons?

Would it be better to open the gap a bit on stock lt1 pistons??

Yes thats whats happening. If we are going this far into the motor theres no point to use the factory cast piston.

Thanks! Do you guys generally use that gap or do you go larger when you know the motor will see 10+ psi with forced induction?
