Default [VR] NA C7 Grand Sport 569RWHP!!!!!

As many of you have seen we build some very impressive HIGH HP builds and have thoroughly enjoyed building these monster LS and LT cars. We recently completed a build for our customers C7 Grand Sport. Tim came in with a very specific goal for the car. Tim is an auto enthusiast thru and thru. Having owned several great performance vehicles and spending a lot of time at HPDEs, Track Days, Road Racing and spirited mountain runs he knew he wanted to stay naturally aspirated on this vehicle. Tim’s goal was to max out the stock bottom end of the LT1 on 93 Pump Gas and make great N/A power. There was something quite refreshing about going back to the basics. Knowing this Grand Sport would see a good amount of hard Track and Fun driving we decided on our Stage IV performance package with a few additions. This combination consisted of the following modifications:

MSD AirForce Intake Manifold
• Nick Williams 102mm DBW Throttle Body
Halltech Cold Air Induction
Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus - Stage III Camshaft
Vengeance Racing CNC Ported LT1 Cylinder Heads
American Racing 1 7/8” stainless headers with catted X pipe
Vengeance Racing High Temp Heat Protective Heat Sleeves
160* Thermostat
Vengeance Racing Gen V Catch Can

To get this N/A build to breathe we started with a Halltech Cold Air Intake as well as a Nick Williams 102mm throttle body and a Vengeance Racing Ported MSD AirForce Intake Manifold. We have found this to be the ultimate modification for the air intake system on these vehicles and offer our proven porting service on any MSD or FAST intake manifold that we sell here.

For the valvetrain, we utilized a set of LT1 cylinder heads ported by LME and our Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus with our LT1 Stage III Camshaft. The Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus features:

- Vengeance Racing Custom Camshaft w/ 32% Fuel Lobe Upgrade
- BTR .660" Lift Dual Valve Spring Kit w/ Ti Retainers
- Vengeance Racing 3/8" Hardened Pushrods
- C5R Timing Chain
- CompCams Trunion Upgrade
- CompCams Phaser Limiter
- GM VVT Cam Bolt
- GM Crank Bolt
- GM LS7 Lifter Set
- GM Lifter Trays
- GM MLS 6.2L Head Gaskets
- GM LT Exhaust Gaskets
- DOD Delete Plug Kit
- ARP Cylinder Head Bolt Kit

Our Vengeance Racing Stage III LT1 Camshaft is our max-effort camshaft for the LT1 engine and gives a very aggressive lope at idle. To move all this air out of the motor quickly we installed an American Racing Header System with their full 3” x-pipe. This combined with the stock dual valve mufflers gave out customer the sound he was looking for.

With the install complete it was time to head to the dyno to see what this NA Grand Sport put to the wheels. On 93 Pump Gas, Tim’s Grand Sport made 569rwhp and 463rwtq.

We look forward to seeing this car at some track days and Car meets this year. We were very excited to see this much power out of a Naturally Aspirated LT1 and know that Tim is going to love this setup. Very cool. Is this a big lift or steep ramp rate cam? He's going to be spending a lot of time hammering this car at high RPM. Do you bump the rev limiter? What is the valve spring interval?

Man I bet that thing pulls real hard up top. I love N/A power houses. They are a completely different driving experience compared to getting the power from a Supercharger.

Default Idle quality

Any chance to get an idle video, ?

If this cam is too aggressive, do you carry any that give close to stock idle and drivability ? and what HP level are we than at ?

awesome job btw

Agree on NA power for sure. It’s to bad though this didn’t have more torque. Definitely not so bad considering it’s not a stroker but a 6.2

Any videos of the car running, I have been throwing the idea around about doing NA build instead of a procharger on my Z51. I like the numbers the car put down.

Thank you guys for all the kind words.

This is our Stage III camshaft which is our max effort camshaft. This gives a very aggressive lope at idle and High peak power. The limiter has been raised on this vehicle.

We do offer several other camshafts for the LT1. If you are looking for a slightly more aggressive cam over stock then I recommend our stage I.

Our Stage II is the biggest camshaft I recommend on automatic cars and gives a nice lope at idle and has excellent street manners.

How often is the owner going to have to change valves springs considering the track day use?

Its really going to depend on his driving style. There are many variables that are going to effect the springs life. We do however recommend checking the springs once a season to ensure they are within spec.
