XM Upgrade Question
I have a 2015 2LT Z51 and use XM a lot, however some channels are missing (meaning when I go to channel list it stops in the 200's and some channels I want are 300+).
Called XM support and first tech had no idea what I was talking about and second tech said my car was too old for the channels.
So my assumption is I need a newer module, is it possible to buy the 2017 XM Module and plug it into my car (replacing current unit) and have it VIN Coded and work with new channels?
Plugs all look the same, but seller says the unit only works on 2017-2018 Chevys. Was hoping maybe someone has experience, found a few articles of people adding XM but no one going from 2015 to newer module.
Thank you in advance

I thought the channel line up was subscription based? I know when they do their free preview you only get a limited line up. And as always, phone jockeys just read from a script. I am looking at renewing / subscribing if anyone has a "Deal" to do so, let me know.

Please read the OP again. The 2015 XM receiver is old tech and does not support the XM channels above 300 as OP states.
Anyone own a 2019, 18 or 17 and use XM please chime in if GM ever bothered to update the XM module so that it can get channels above 300?

I called today and spoke to higher XM Tech Support person and they confirmed that the 2015 C7 XM Module will only steam 250 channels. They said their system shows an Upgrade is available through GM, but could not tell me more or confirm what it was.
Found a 2017 C7 XM Module for $100 brand new, nabbed it and I am going to install and have dealer re-code the unit and crossing fingers it works.

I have a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO (daily driver) with Sirius XM and have had the full package since the beginning, 8 yrs ago. As was mentioned previously, it's all subscription based. Nothing wrong with your Corvette and your radio.

I like listening to the 'Faction' channel- 314, and I get the same thing where it doesn't appear on the cars radio. I bluetooth it from my phone and it works just fine.
I honestly don't listen to the radio much so it's not a big deal for me.

They are working with GM Technical now to see what can be done. They tried a new XM module for a 2018 Corvette but the connectors are all different. So now they are trying to see if GM can provide an updated radio for 2014-2016 cars that supports more than 250 channels or if a software update can be done.
I am hoping to have an answer by next week.

I care enough about the issue to do it. If they cant resolve this then I just trade it in for a 2018.
Also I have 5 other cars, so its really not a big deal.

Channels 300 are above are ONLINE only for 2018 Corvette. Look at the channel list for All Access:
https://www.siriusxm.com/packages/xmallaccess
So to get them you'll have to pay for the online subscription and play through your smart phone and bluetooth.

When I have had Dodge Challenger or Charger rental cars....the channels 250 and above come in (I listen to several channels in the 300s). If I recall, in Ford cars, you get the channels 250 and above as well. I assumed it was the legacy XM versus Sirius that the OEMs were tied to.
I hope you figure something out, as I am paying for all the channels in the subscription but don't get the ones in the 250+. My car is a 2017.

Both GM and XM agree the issue is with an out-dated receiver in the car. Just trying to see what they can do to replace.

Thread is about trying to figure out if there is a way to upgrade the receiver so our Vettes can get the other channels as demonstrated by other cars.
I am hopeful there is a solution!
Please let us know what progress is made.
The other thing I like in the other cars is that their XM radios also show the Album cover picture.
Wish our Vettes did that too.

For anyone interested - Had the corvette at dealer for almost 3 weeks while their team worked with GM Tech Support and also XM Dealer Services.
The outcome at this time is even if they upgrade/retrofit the new 2018 XM unit in my car it will not get any channel over 300. GM admits their hardware is the issue (and acknowledges that other manufactures can tune into these channels no issue). They did open a TSB up about this so anyone coming into a dealer can get quick info on the channels and not have dealer making 100+ calls or shooing in the dark.
The other positive thing is GM is taking the TSB and going to see if they can revise the channel list support via a software update. So maybe one day.
