Default 30,000 miles maintenance costs

Hi Guys,

After a multipoint inspection to my ‘14 Z51 with the A6, local dealer is recommending the following maintenance:
-GDI Induction service
-Transmission service
-Rear differential service
+Tires and brakes

All for $3,440.

Looks expensive. Do you know if that is required on a regular 30K maintenance for our Corvette? Does the price looks OK? Do you know how much is charged normally for each one of those services. I’m kind of surprised since is an american sport car not a Porsche. Please advice.

See above, I just did transmission and differential on my z51 (35k miles) which is tracked moderately in extreme temperatures and supercharged. If your car is not, I wouldn't bother right now.

Don't let the dealership strongarm ya into wasting money. Follow the manual's recommended intervals which are already pretty conservative.

No misfiring or bad iddling of my engine. I have been only in one HPDE event. Tires look wasted, I would check my brakes, no noise from them and still braking strongly. He mentioned that they were 1/2 mm toward red.
Thanks Buddy You are the Best.

Tires and brakes are needed or not and are what they are, but on the rest I'd just change the trans and diff fluids at most. No way you need GDI service at 30K, and I frankly don't think your trans needs a fluid change yet either unless it's had some rough service.

So it seems a bit overkill to me.

The Owner's Manual will tell you what you need to do. Follow it and you won't go wrong. I attached the appropriate section of the OM to this post. As for the brake maintenance 30K miles is in the range when they might need to be replaced. Do yours need to be replaced? Do the rotors and the pads need replacing or just the pads? If the rotors are above minimum thickness they don't need to be replaced.

Do you drive the car under normal conditions or severe service conditions? Tires will run you around $1500 unless you can find them for less somewhere else. GM dealers do get a lot of money for a brake job on any car so you might look at buying the rotors and pads through one of the GM Parts Vendors that sponsor the forum and doing the work yourself. It isn't all that hard.

As for the transmission service GM doesn't recommend it until the 45K mile mark under severe service or 90K miles under normal service. They are mum on the diff. Although they do recommend changing diff fluid after the first track event and after every 24 hours of track duty after that.

There is no mention of any requirement for a GDI Induction Service whatever that is. Found a link: https://www.bgprod.com/services/gaso...air-induction/. This could be snake oil like a lot of other fuel system cleaners. If your engine is running fine, without more research on the value of this treatment I wouldn't recommend paying to have this done even if it only cost 5 cents. The key here is GM doesn't recommend cleaning the Direct Injection system or the intake valves and if they don't I wouldn't let the dealer talk me into it.

Basically, the tires and brake services are wear related and if they need to be done they need to be done. The other services don't need to be done no matter whether you are under the normal or severe service recommendation.

Falken Azenis FK510. No way would I pay 3 times as much for Michelin with the garbage factory alignment settings on these cars.

I am big on any and regular fluid changes because they are cheap insurance.

I had my dealer do the diff during the 500 mile oil change based on some horror stories I read on here. Cost me $135. Tire and brakes are going to cost whatever they cost. Don't think I'd worry about the transmission service until the manual calls for it, given the type of driving you said you've done. That GDI Induction service? If your car is running well, I'd definitely pass on it.
