Default Oil Life Gauge

I am a new owner of a 2017 Corvette and just got it out from hibernation in the state of Pennsylvania where winter has lasted forever. I took my car on a 4 hour road trip and it was so much fun! What a great car. I purchased it in January 2017 and put it to bed last November with under 1000 miles. So I have finally put some miles on it in one trip this year. I had the oil change at 500 miles as per the dealer chart. Ok so now I have 1100 miles on the car. The oil life gauge shows 20%???????????. I just changed the oil I have not driven it 600 miles since and it shows 20%???????????????????????????

Ok you say they did not reset the gauge but they did and if not still its only 1100 miles. There gots to be something wrong here. Can someone shed some light on the subject. Even if it is counting months or days not milage it can't be right? An oil change every 1200 miles???? I will be stopping at the dealer to discuss this but has anyone had this? I hope nothing is wrong. Ok Ill shut up and let the experts answer this. Thanks for your help. Concerned in PA

Mine is the same and I changed the oil at 500mi and 900 miles after kooks header install and the car now has 1400 miles. Says 25% on my car.

It’s the time. I’m not worried about it and will be changing the oil before her first track day this summer. My car sits in a heated garage no less than 55 degrees. Not overly concerned with the moisture it may collect. Winter sucks!

The oil monitor takes time and useage into consideration. You can change the oil, never drive the car and in 12 months the monitor will read 0%.

Correct, they want an oil change yearly... (and warranty requires it)

Time is a factor just as mileage is. You could park the car for years come back with 0 miles and it'd be time to change (as a guess, I don't know that for sure).
