Default Battery swap out

My 2014 has the original battery in it with 8500 miles. I am thinking about premeptively changing out the original for a new one... no problems yet but figure this will be coming sooner than later. So my question is can I plug my battery tender into the socket in the trunk to provide power to the computer while I dis-connect the battery to swap it out thereby preventing any memory or other issues? Or am I just wasting my time/effort? Any suggestions for best replacement battery? thanks, CJ

No need. Just re-index the windows after the new battery is in.

Agreed. I had my battery disconnected several days while working on a project. Reconnected the battery and all I had to do was re-index the windows. All my settings (especially radio presets) remained as-is.

Aside from the responses above.... its not a good idea to maintain power to the car with a battery tender and no battery. A tender doesn't provide much amperage and you could do damage to a computer if you mistakenly hit the ignition switch or something.

I just changed out my battery and it was disconnected for about 30 minutes. I didn't even need to reindex my windows.

Funny I just had to index passenger window as I recall. Battery out for ~1 hour.

FWIW for OP, this is a pic/text PDF of the change in my 2014, there are a few tricks: http://netwelding.com/Battery_Issues.pdf
