Default LT1 vs LT4 Head Gasket differences

The LT1 uses head gasket part number: 12659260 (old number: 12622331)
The LT4 uses head gasket part number: 12654622

The LT1 head gaskets are silver with red and the LT4 look to be silver with black. I know there is more to the LT4 other than the color difference. Does anyone know specifically what is different between them exactly? Thanks

Ant

hi Ant, were you able to identify the differences? Would LT4 head gasket work with LT1 heads?

They will work. If I remember correctly from when I looked, the LT1 head gaskets are 5 layer and the LT4’s are 7 layer.

I have them both here. I’ll lay them on top of each other and check the differences. I can’t imagine they are any different since the blocks for the LT1 and LT4 are the same, the gaskets would have to be the same as well.

I agree maybe thicker & maybe a little diff stuff that the LT4 gasket is made of due to the lowing the comp on it, plus a little better stuff to help it not to blow out due to the blower being on the car.

Ant please check the thickness of them due to my motor build I may go with a set of the LT4 with this is the case... If you dont care give me a message on what you find out or see from the diff's. Robert

LT4 gasket will work on LT1... 2 extra layers add to thickness of gasket but no idea how much

RockAuto shows the LT4 gasket as .055" thick, and the LT1 as .054" thick.
