Possible hidden vacuum leak on Z51 after rebuild - where could it be?

Nothing quite like the smell of success in the morning:

The silver lining here is that even if the tool hadn’t broken in the cylinder, the amount of metal shards from re-tapping the spark plug hole was enormous. And despite me vacuuming and using a magnet, there would have still been way too much shrapnel in there for my liking.
Now one I just need to wait for my head gasket to arrive and I can put this baby back together again

What is that sticking up from the bottom left of the piston? A broken ring?

I think it would have scored the cylinder quite badly at the very least as a lot of it was trapped between the edge of the piston and the piston ring..
Status update: The new head gasket and ARP assembly lube turned up this morning so I started rebuilding. All head bolts torqued down in stages to 115ftlbs, which was quite difficult as my torque wrench is pretty small.
Then I put the pushrods back in and torqued the rockers down to 22ftlbs. Only one of the valves was open, so I had to torque this one down separately once I’d rotated the engine with a breaker bar.
Then I put the spark plugs back in, and luckily this time the new threads I cut for the problem one worked fine and I was able to finger screw it in.
Time to put the exhaust headers back on.....and PROBLEM!!! The cheap eBay headers I purchased do not line up correctly with the holes in the head. So out comes the drill, holes made larger and finally after several hours the exhaust header bolted up correctly.
Then I bolted the water pump manifold back to the block. I couldn’t find the torque specs for the bolts here (anyone know?). Even with the wrench set to 20ftlbs it felt like the bolts were going to strip out the threads in the block, so I didn’t over tighten and I’ll have to re-visit those when I get the right specs.
Finally I put the fuse box back into place and bolted the alternator back on.
Thats me done one for today! Tomorrow will be the final few bits and hopefully a successful startup!!!

4 Books Each spine is about 2" wide. Tons of electrical, fastener torques and stuff. I've ordered the Helms for my cars since 83. I think my C6 was 2 books but this car is a monster to document.
