Default How much RWHP for C4 to outrun C7?

I have an '84 that has been LS swapped. I am running a very simple setup. It's a 6.0 LQ9 w/ stock LS3 heads/intake/injectors, 92mm cable TB, 1-7/8" long tubes w/ 3" exhaust, x-pipe, no cats, 220/224 .575/.575 TFS cam, TKO 600 and 3.54 gear. I have roll raced three C7s and have out run all of them easily. The last guy on Saturday followed me and stopped and talked to me. His was a 2016 m7 base model w/ catback and CAI. He said I was easily out on him by 6+ cars from 40-120mph. He said I must be putting down ~440ish to the wheels. I don't know what the other two C7s were (m7/a8) but they were even easier to out run.

I have also raced two AFAIK stock C6 Z06s and they both edged me out by about 2 car lengths. I assume my car is about 3200 lbs without me in it and about 3450lbs with my tubby 250lbs in it.

I know, I know, I really need to strap it down on a dyno and get some real numbers but I was just curious what you C7 guys think about it. How much rwhp do you think it would take for a C4 to out run you guys?

Thanks!

You can out run a stock C7 if youre putting down anything over what a stock C7 puts down, around 400Whp. The problem for you is you built your C4 and its just edging them out when they are stock. I wish we were closer so i could show you what my modded C7 can do. Sounds like you're having a good time running stock cars, from you beating 460 crank Stingrays and losing to 505 crank hp C6 Zo6s I'd say your making around 430whp.

All you need to do is take it to the track and your time slips will answer your questions.

Awesome, that is what I wanted to know.

Also, I didn't build it I bought it for $8500 cash. The only hp increasing mod I have done was having the 3" mandrel bent exhaust from the collector back built and installed. It is a huge difference over the 2.5" radius/crush bent garbage that was in there before.

Definitely a fun car as I get to drive the **** out of it without being too concerned about depreciation. I bought it in February and have already put 17k+ miles on it while trolling the local highways.

Next on the list for me is a Walbro 340, 50lb injectors, HP Tuners and a 125 dry shot. Should put it in the mid 500s at the wheels.

Thanks for the reply BlueDevil !!!

I would say the problem is that you spent $60K+ on a car that you still had to spend more Ks on just to beat a C4 with a mildly built junkyard motor.

I don't doubt that whatsoever but all I have to do is spend another $1500 and I would out run you too.

glad you're enjoying your 430whp C4, that's a badass C4, but you're gonna have to spend a lot more the $1500 to out run me. Add another 150 whp and we could have a good race.

Depends on your gearing, tire type and size, and context ("outrun" meaning what, specifically).
