Rim and tire combo for track use
I’m looking to invest in a set of track rims and tires since the stock 20s and 19s on my GS don’t have many tire options.
What size are you guys going down to, 18s or 19s? Also which tires would be recommended? I’ve seen people talk about Hoosiers, Toyo R888R, and NITTOs.

I’ve run triple 8, R7’s in 315/345, and R7’s in 285/315’s. All on 18x11 and 18x13 wheels. Hands down get 18’s and run R7’s in 315/345. Magical and crazy grip!

18's for sure but 18x13 contact the upper control arm at full droop. I replaced mine with 18x12 rear.

A track noob here, and I am curious and interested in finding ways to cut on cost.
How many track days can one get from the Toyo tires?
Can they be driven on the road to-and-from the track?
What wheels do you guys recommend? cost efficient preferred.
Thanks,

If you're a track noob, use street tires for at least half a dozen events before you move on to slicks or r-comps. It will help your development tremendously knowing that your grip is LIMITED.

I plan to get C6Z wheels 18/19 and 888Rs or NT01s. Plan on trying each set to see what works best for me. Tire price goes down tremendously with wheel size.

Do you have stage 3 aero on the front? Might help a little.
fyi, I already bought a cheap set of scrubs this size. I’m not at your level yet, so I doubt I’ll reach the limits of them.

I’m running stage 3 front and back. I tried the smaller R7’s for the same reason you listed. The weight difference is note worthy, but the understeer sucked.
