Default How little oil is too little?

My 2017 Grand Sport had it's oil changed at 800 km and then was drove gently until 2500 km. I bought it at 7000 km (best car I have ever had) and when checking the oil according to procedure it was about two centimeters below the hash marks. I almost flipped. Has any harm been done to the engine?
P.S. there is no low oil level light in the dry sump cars it turns out

So, you had the car good and hot, shut it down and waited 7 minutes to check the oil. How far is 2 centimeters in inches? 3/4" You were about 1 quart low.

2500km-800KM is 1700km or 1,056 miles. IF, you started out at the top of the dipstick and now you're 3/4" below the hash marks, I'd say you have a serious leak or engine problem. I drive 7,000 miles before I change my oil and it's never been below the hash marks when I change the oil.

I hope I understood your question!

Thanks for the quick response. Good and hot - drove it for half an hour. You misunderstood. The first and only oil change was at 500 miles and now the car has 4500 miles. Let's say I have been driving with 1.5 quarts too little the last couple weeks; would it damage the engine?

As long as you weren't in any kind of competitive type of activity, I'd say no issue. Does your DIC say oil change? What % is left?

Grrrrr

Does not compute....

You've lost 2 qts of oil in 4000 miles? I've no idea where you live but you might consider a visit to the dealer for excessive oil consumption.

If I were you I'd send that oil off to Blackstone for analysis. It's probably fine but that is the only way to know for sure and put your mind at ease.

Are you sure you checked the oil when you had the last change? THis is certainly possible if the tech isn't paying attention and puts in 9.8 qts.

If you haven't been revving the engine up under load you should be fine. Not sure what dealer support you have since I don't know where you are located but this might be something to bring up with the dealer. However, the OM does tell the owner they have a responsibility to check oil level regularly and suggests it would be a good time to check it each time the fuel tank is filled. You have had 6 or 7 chances to check the oil before this.

What ever you do I would add some oil to bring the level up.

As long as your oil pressure light hasn't been on steady for several seconds at a time, you'll be fine.
