Default Long tube header install fail

Good evening everyone,

I just recently attempted to install a set of speed engineer long tubes on my buddies c7 and unfortunately it didn't go well. The flanges don't line up well with the head, speed engineer is aware of the issue and now pre drill the holes out to 1/2 before shipping out. unfortunately the owner of the corvette did not want to take the risk of potential leaks in the future or headers shifting so we backed out of the install. nevertheless, we attempted a detailed installed video and hope to provide some insight to those who will be tackling this project. please check out my youtube channel "gs footage'' where we do a bunch of installs and drag racing.

Never heard of Speed Engineer.

That may be the first mistake. You get what you pay for.

Sorry it didn't work out.

It's the 300.00 Ebay headers. You do get what you pay for with them unfortunately. If you can get them to work, they should be ok.. but seems like a crapshoot from what I have seen/read.. My ARH 2" setup went on flawlessly with zero fitment issues.

Donít go cheap on headers. Iím very particular and my kooks headers went on beautifully. The holes in the flanges are only .030 over the diameter of the flange fasteners and were spot on!!! I couldnít believe the end result. Looks like artwork.

yeah kooks are good, had the opportunity to install them on a tbss and had 0 issues.

I may just tell my buddie to wait around for a use set of good headers to pop up like I did with my camaro

You get what you pay for. Kooks always fit like OEM.

Same thing happened to me with TSP headers. The centerlines lined up port wise but the bolt holes would not. Had to drill them out and wallow the holes.. On top of that, they sent 1 7/8 headers instead of 2". Probably getting them from the same source.
Every time I try to give them another chance.....they screw it up.

i bought some ebay headers for my civic SI. The holes were off about 1/8 at the worst. The only issue was me having to fix it. In the end, they refunded my entire amount, so i got the headers for free. Just took an extra hour to reem the holes. At the time it was stressful as I was doing the work in a random parking lot near my apartment. Now that I have a garage and more tools, it would be less of a headache. but in the end i got free headers.

Thanks for the info, I was very close to giving the speed engineering headers a shot but was talked out of it by a bunch of friends. I am sorry you guy had troubles but I am glad I spent the money on the ARH I have currently waiting for the wether to break to install.

I had Speed speed engineer long tubes on my C7Z 15, i did have to reem 2 holes, but after that fitment was great and had very nice power results!! They refunded me 75$ so in the end, full LTs and xpipe costed 425$ shipped!!! Dont mind the extra hour of work!!!
