Default GS w/Stage 2 rear - faster/slower at COTA?

Kinda of a niche question but worth a try:
Has anyone here with stage 2 aero run COTA, and compared his laptime without stage 2 aero?

I ask because I put on a stage 2 rear spoiler but no front splitter. My front wheels are 18x11 (rear 18x12) so on most tracks my car is very well balanced in terms of over/understeer. But I'm wondering if that stage 2 rear spoiler will slow me down at a track like COTA. Much thanks.

Without actually testing it is hard to say since you don't have a balanced aero situation. With the full Stage 2 aero you might actually be faster since you would be able to corner better and come off corners at a higher speed. The aero might slow down your peak speed but getting off the corner faster is more important since you get to the end of the straight faster that way.

With just the Stage 2 rear spoiler you may not increase cornering potential sufficiently (due to increased understeer) to compensate for the increased drag slowing the car on the straight.

I saw a car do a 1.32.23 there... Granted it was a Mercedes 2018 F1 and Lewis was driving, but I think he had the stage 1000 aero package. lol..

If there is any chance you will be at COTA on April 7 we could run together and see if there is any difference. I still have stage 1 on my GS. It will be hard to figure it out but we could run a few laps together then look at PDR data after.

Even if not decisive, this would be a hoot!

Z06 or GS? I bet it would be slower on a GS. Could be wrong though.

Brad, I'm at COTA Mar 29-31. Darn, we miss each other by a week!

It's a GS, and that's why I'm so concerned. At COTA that last seconds on the back straight makes a huge difference.

I drove my stock 2017 GS with Z07 package at COTA last December. It has stage 2 aero and pilot sport cup tires. My best lap was a 1:30.7 with a top speed on the back straight of 147. I thought the car was a little bit tight and would add stage 3 winglets to the front spoiler before I go back.

I live streamed my session, but it is upside down. 😬

I think we can figure this out if you look at your PDR Video. Last weekend I was consistently going through turn 11 at 41mph getting wide open in 3rd gear before reaching corner exit. My max speed was 147mph when breaking at the 250ft marker. I never shift down to 2nd at COTA. The time gained from the launch off the corner in 2nd is likely lost when you have to shift to 3rd. I don't run overly hard in my GS. My best lap time was 2:39.

Dang Richard. You would be on the pole in the Indy car race with that time. I am sure you just used the wrong first number. I am very interested what phone mount you used to put it in that location.
