Default Trouble with 2nd gear 2019 GS w/M7

Had the car less than 400 miles. Intermittently, when going through the gears, it simply will not go into 2d. I have to go into 3rd. Doesn’t have that problem downshifting into 2d, just when going 1st to 2d. I googled it and there are some results from back in 2014 which seem to be from this forum. Can’t find whether its an ongoing thing with the M7 that still hasn’t been addressed. One of the old posts from the google search had an owner saying that “an engineer from GM came to the dealer and adjusted the synchro’s and it fixed it”. I’m not a “greenhorn”. 52 yo driver who’s driven manuals for years including 911’s and older Vette’s etc. Just hoping that there is newer info so that when I take it to the dealer and it does not manifest while there (as we all know problems never manifest themselves at the dealer), I might be able to “educate” the dealer with the experience of a few thousand other owners. Any info and advice appreciated.

There is a lock out on 2nd at a certain RPM range and speed. You will see a message on the DIC. Give it a bit more throttle or let the RPMS go a bit higher and it’ll let you go to 2nd.

Just drive it like a sports car and you'll never... ever... experience Skip-Shift again.

You guys are saying its Skip-Shift, but wouldn't 3rd also be locked out if that was enabled? Or does it just lockout 2 and assume you'll go to 4? For the short time I had that feature active in my car, I don't think I ever tried going into 3 when it activated.

It only closes the gate to 2nd. If one just revs a bit higher you bypass it. I rarely use mine. But it’s nice when lazy.
