Electrical issues after having the battery disconnected
I didn't drive my vette for about 4 weeks while installing a larger radiator and changing the intercooler setup. I disconnected the battery about 2 weeks into the project. Upon completion of the project and starting the vehicle, I am having some electrical issues. The doors will not open with the touch pad 9 out of 10 times. The right rear turn signal doesn't work most of the time. When I plugged in my radar detector to the cigarette receptical, it is constantly getting power for a few seconds then loosing it. Also my daytime running lights work some of the time. I haven't noticed any other issues. I have driven the vehicle approximately 200 miles since with at least 20 ignition cycles. Any ideas are appreciated. The vette is a 2015 Z06 / Z07 M7.
Need to charge your battery. If you can, take the battery out and take it to your local parts store have them load test the battery. If you have a battery that is 3+ years old it could be your battery needs replacement. Otherwise a charge should bring it back to life.
The battery is the original at 5 years old. I did run my trickle charger on it for a couple of days and the battery registers 13+ volts. I haven't load tested it. Good idea. I'll check it and report back.
It might be a loose connection at the battery. If you don't align the leads up perfectly, they will give you fits in the electrical system OR you're 5 year old battery has simply died.
My rule is that I replace batteries when they are 5 yrs old. I may lose a little battery life but it's worth it to me to be more assured of not having a battery problem. My wife's Mustang GT is a 2015 so it will get a new battery probably in October before the cold season hits.
